"Late in 2010 we started offering the iPad... today, we are extremely gratified to announce that the iPhone 4 will be available early next month."

-Verizon CEO

I love my EVO 4G and Sprint so I don't care as much, but for other people who like the iPhone it's a godsend.

Burn in hell AT&T.

What I'm curious about is whether or not the next iPhone will be on both AT&T and Verizon or not. I can imagine a lot of customers getting pissed at being 'last-generation'd" after 4 months.

im happy with the droid now that i have left at&t for verizon haha
i left at&t because they were charging me international rates as i went over my data allowance
verizon has unlimited for now so YAH!

Howe says it's also possible that the addition of 16 million or more new iPhones will "stress" Verizon's network because it only has about 30 million smart phones in use right now — the lowest percentage of all national carriers.

"Unless Verizon has done a lot of network upgrades in advance, it may see many of the same capacity problems that have plagued AT&T," he says.

"iPhone 4 is going to run on our network... network capacity -- we have advanced the capacity and built margin into it. We're ready for this launch." Boy, they really want us to know that they're ready. He seems to be emphasizing that the new customers will not hit the network and create the kind of situation AT&T has right now."

from Engadget

so no they probably won't have as many issues as AT&T because their capacity wasn't planned by morons

but, but, AT&T has the fastest network...

Now, if only Sprint will drop that 4G surcharge.

Verizon customers would be really dumb not to wait for the iPhone 5.

I have to wait until the iPhone 6

This would have been really big news pre-Android era. In fact I'm pretty sure that is why Apple has decided to expand carriers. They have to maintain their margin of insane profitability in these tough economic times.

Because f*ck you that's why.

Honestly, I would wait until Verizon's iPhone is able to run on the 4G LTE network.  The iphone 4 will only run on 3G so I would wait until iphone 5 or whatever.

killer21 - not only that, but on the current 3G CDMA network on Verizon you cannot do simultaneous voice and data transfer. That's a pretty huge fail right there.

Stimey: It's never been exclusive here in Austria either. Orange had it, T-Mobile had it and now A1 (the largest provider) just got it.

If you guys haven't used data and voice at the same time, you're truly not mobile warriors. I use that shit all the time. Think about it like this, too: You're driving down the road, have your phone set up with navigation enable and a call arrives - what do you do? Keep navigating or talk on the phone? With a GSM network, you don't have to make that choice. With an Android phone, it's built-in functionality. With an iPhone, you have to shell out cash to get the navigation and if you're on Verizon you do have to make the choice. GSM > CDMA

AT&T's 3G network is also faster than Verizon's. AT&T's only problem has been the shoddiness of the network coverage, beyond that, it's pretty stout.

Phone GPS on, taking calls fed through the cars stereo system.

Phone call + data scenario.  On foot, talking with wife or kids on phone while looking for movie show times.

Well I know where I'm going and I hate talking and driving.  The only thing my phone is for me while driving is a clock.
