never been to either, but from what I've read they both sound awesome. Especially the weather, even if it's overcast a lot of the winter... I can just buy one of those SAD lamps.

If I ever move, it will probably be north to Portland. It's sort of an island of progressivism and hippy-ness in a sea anglo-christian repression and anger. Imagine San Francisco sitting in the middle of Kansas.

I wouldn't say Portland is rife with filthy, stinking, dreadlocked hippies, but they're definitely a subculture. But Portland is certainly liberal, which makes the entire state liberal by default. It's a constant source of frustration and rage in the rural areas(everywhere else). very humorous.
