it's two seperate engines, each designed to run on different platforms
After I learned how to effectively manage the suit modes, that stopped. And I realized that, unlike in other FPS, the enemy AI actually sees and hears you. So standing on a rooftop looking down on them doesn't work too well when one of them turns around.Poseidon wrote:

its not. Hes an idiot. It is the same engine but it is designed to run on different platforms, however there is always a limit to how much you will invest in making the technology utilized by one platform different from another platform.SonderKommando wrote:

So I heard the PC version is being shipped with DX9 and DX11 will be patched in later? What kind of rubbish is this?
I like having the best of both worlds, the box for my collection (and to sooth my paranoia about account loss) and the convenience of simply downloading my game and automatically patching it. Which is why I'm always disappointed when people who put out a retail game that's also available on Steam upon release don't think it's important that Steam be allowed to recognize retail codes. Thus I'm going to have to dick around with activating two codes (LE) separately, and doing this for each computer I install the game on. Plus having to launch it as a non-Steam game.
So Crysis 2 LE already fails in my eyes.

A mate is telling me just now it's a good game but you can tell it was made for console... any agree?
just played for about 15 minutes
what a hunk of shit
game movement and shooting feels awful.. nowhere near as good as the original. was playing on steady 40-50fps average, too
really disappointed. i at least expected the same mindless single-player campaign for a one-off play thru
not even going to get that

movement and shooting is exactly the same as in the original.
the duck-behind-objects shit is annoying and feels bulky

Must say
looks really really nice. Can't wait for DX11.

god knows how it will run. i'm using the custom graphics tool and it seems to quarter the framerate.

I heard about that, actually, by sticking everything on absolute max it kills your FPS
there's probably a happy medium between max ingame and max in config
did you buy or download it?

i bought this and shogun 2... i enjoyed the first two crysis single-players for what they were: tech-demo walkthroughs. moderately entertaining for 1-2 play-throughs. multiplayer is shit on the originals and is hideously shit in this, too. im disappointed about the lack of any menu changes or setting changes... doesn't help the 'zomg console port!' whines very much. the graphics look better but in a different 'style', almost... perhaps it's the lack of dx10/dx11 but the objects and textures in crysis 2 seem more blurry and hazy... i'm tempted to say rendered like console graphics... but im sure you can see that for yourself. in crysis 1, by contrast, all the graphics felt pretty sharp and defined. in this it's like it's taking that cheap hardware-processing trick of making everything into a camera/object blurred mess that only has the illusion of being high-definition - when it's really not.
so what is there really to celebrate, here? they released a game with the exact same gameplay as the original... an arguably crapper and poorly written storyline... and it hasn't even shipped with the graphics technology they put in the original fucking crysis. what is it with game developers thesedays bragging up their game's visuals and technologies, and then never releasing them? both games i have purchased this week - crysis 2 and shogun total war - have shipped with only half a graphics menu available. one without the directx that makes the game series famous (crysis) and the other without anti-aliasing or dx10/11 shader support (shogun).
pc gaming really is a fucking dud, imo. unless you play warcraft, starcraft or manage to somehow entertain yourself with one of the many cloned and mediocre fps games... there really is nothing out there. maybe a slim niche exception for the eve geeks that have their thing going on. roll on guild wars 2... fucking christ.

i'm trying to enjoy the new graphical splendour (which is, lets face it, the main entertainment in crysis games) but i'm constantly squinting at enemies in the distance, unable to discern if they're fucking enemies or not... all the graphics just seem a bit messed up. almost like the resolution is off. the blurriness and edges just aren't nice to look at. it's very hard to describe without playing the game for 15 minutes to see for yourself. it just doesn't have the graphical polish and boldness of crysis 1.

there is an advanced graphics setup tool floating around in the crysis section in the steamforums.Uzique wrote:

Give it a try, it eliminates all the blurry shit and have a bigger FOV than 55.
give reading a try, broseph
i've already said i suspect the graphics look a damn-lot shitter because it's all affected by the console-compensation BLUR EVERYTHING shit
i have turned it all off but the graphic 'style' is just overall... very different

I think I'm actually going to skip it. If I was only going to play the single player, I'd download it, but if it's exactly the same as the first regarding gameplay, the only thing left for it is the graphics, and, well, I can watch Youtube videos of it all day. If I was wanting to play the multiplayer, then I'd buy it.. but I don't think release price is good enough for what I experienced in the demo. I never got that "Omg I want to play more Crysis 2" whenever I was away from my computer, which I've had from many other games, most recently BFBC2. I played the hell out of that beta, hence why I ended up buying the full game. Crysis demo just never hit it off for me.
the full game is obviously a lot better than the demo... i'm a snob when it comes to single-player games so take my critique with a pinch of salt. a game has to be pretty well written and pretty original for me to rate its single-player and it's clear that crysis 2 puts more emphasis and effort in the 'beauty' category than the 'content' one. and the visuals aren't of a high-enough standard for me to be suitably compensated.

didn't say to turn the blur off to make game look better, but turn it off since its so fucking annoying.Uzique wrote:

i'm getting a feeling you hate crysis 2 and modern fps, but i'm not sure.
i don't hate 'modern fps', i just hate sub-par fps. don't care when it's released. if you want to draw a pattern... be my guest.

Meh..played it for 15 minutes and got bored to death. They consolized the shit out of it and that makes me sad.
