You're the dickhead who wants to do an offsite backup at the bank.FloppY_ wrote:

The whole point of this was to avoid the hassle of running to the bank every week/month to do a physical offsite backup
Do your back up from home.
Place one into the bank.
Month passes. Next backup from home. Return to bank. Swap backups.
You will have a 2 month backup on one drive, a 1 month backup on another and will always have one at the bank and one at home.
Stop talking in circles you dense motherfuckersAussieReaper wrote:

Your thoughts, insights, and musings on this matter intrigue me
And you already said

Oh well.... I will just do monthly updates to a HDD and store it in the bank vault or something then
Eventually I should be able to afford an offsite Server/NAS at some datacentre :p
Yes... because there were no better suggestions... so why keep kicking the dead baby AR?AussieReaper wrote:

I think what they are saying in short is deal with going to the bank or fork over the dough for online services, those are pretty much your options.FloppY_ wrote:

You should have a backup offsite, and 2 copies at home.

I thought you had everything backed up with RAID 1.
RAID =/= back-up. RAID is for up time (except 0 which is for speed) if you change a file on a RAID array the original is gone, your PSU frys your system the files are gone (there are plenty more examples but you get the idea)mikkel wrote:

Havent you guys heard of the 3-2-1 rule? Three copies, two different media storage types, one off site...
.. er something like that. I think that covers most things that can happen to you .. just short of nuclear holocaust.

What about investing in a fireproof safe to store the HDD in? Would save a trip to the bank every month
I'd type my pc specs out all fancy again but teh mods would remove it. Again.
I do off site backups on my main data.. music/photos/webdev/etc incase the computer gets physically stolen. lol
everything i write is a ramble and should not be taken seriously.... seriously. ♥
i read that of the laptops that are stolen only 3% are recovered
You do know what burglar-proof + fireproof safes cost right?presidentsheep wrote:

Not to mention a "fireproof" safe, is only fire-resistant up to a certain time, the longer the fire-safe-"safe-time" the more expensive the safe...

You can get non burglar proof safes?FloppY_ wrote:

anywhere from £20 - £7000, sure one will be ok.

A fireproof safe is not necessarily burglar proof...AussieReaper wrote:
