it doesnt support xp64 but i managed to find a 64 bit work-around a couple of years ago. because the work-around is convoluted i am still on version 8.0 which i dont mind. unfortunately itunes now is saying apps cant be purchased because of incompatibilty and the old work-around does not work with the latest installer.

as a longshot do you know if there is any software that i can use to make itune store purchases? i have seen MediaMonkey and songbird but they only seem to manage your library.

yeah i tried that before posting a thread but after running the installer i got the error message:

"this itunes installer requires windows vista 64 bit edition or later"

and

"the installer encountered errors before itunes could be configured etc"

Perhaps your workaround has residual problems with installing the new version?

Prolly have to clear our the registry of anything iTunes. Regscanner helps.

hmm I wonder if compatibility mode would help. iTunes installs and runs so much smoother on Macs . It's no wonder it often gets a bad wrap by pc users.
