Looks good so far right? Yeah i know MSI sucks but i'll take the plunge. What i need from you guys is the typical "Help me pick out X thread". So can you guys find me the best video card for under $200?

I saw on benchmark tests that the Radeon HD 6850 was better the best choice for under $200. I also do plan to SLI/Crossfire them.

I was eye'ing this one.

Didn't think the Caviar blue was that good? Until someone corrects me i'd recommend the F3 or F4 dependant on price.
Also that PSU is waaaaay overkill, you maybe need 600/700W tops with a decent brand for what you're running with some room for improvements.
Video card, go with the 460
I'd type my pc specs out all fancy again but teh mods would remove it. Again.

Blue is fine. Green = eco + slow, Black = Fast and expensive. Blue is in the middle. 1KW PSU is, indeed, overkill. Get something more like this. Memory too is a bit overkill, but it's damn cheap for a decent brand and 8GB.

As far as GPUs, the MSI Cyclone GTX 460 is a very highly rated card, just inside your budget.

The motherboard is fine, MSI have come leaps and bounds since their cheap chinese cap models.

Well if i SLI or crossfire wont i need around 800watts to power it all?

And 4, 6, or 8 gigs for gaming?

Nowhere near 800W for just two 460s. 650 would be fine. 700 if you want to be extra safe, 1KW is just overkill.

Regarding memory, I just realised if you get 2x4GB DIMMs, they'll run in dual channel, not triple channel. Optimally you'd want 3x2GB. Something like this.

>.< Here's me failing, and thinking that 1155 sockets supported Tri-channel. Is that still only 1366?

I paid like no more than $10 more for a black version of my 500GB over the blue version.

1366 is the only one with triple channel memory atm.

And if you plan to overclock the cpu, you're gonna need the one with the "K" on the end.

Pre-Sandy Bridge i7s were triple-channel ram, which mean if you wanted 6GB you had three 2GB sticks in every second slot of the 6 on the motherboard.

Sand-bridge has taken away to the triple-channel aspect, so it's back to dual-channel
for a fatty you're a serious intellectual lightweight.

Dual channel = 2, 4, 8 gigs. Theres no 6gb, cuz theres no 3gb sticks out there.

And yes, yes ik if you sticks 2x 2gb and 2x 1gb sticks you can get 6gb. I'm talkin bout kit-wise.

I'd personally just stick 4gb in it and be fine for the start. Games don't need more than that I believe. Always get more later.

As a current MSI mobo user I advise you to avoid like the plague.

Customer service sucks and is non existent. My mobo was the MSI top of the line mobo when I bought it
