So Miss Manners doesn't approve of trained killers performing a far less severe act. I understand that our military's trying to be the white knight in all this, but I simply don't care enough about a stressed-out soldier taking a leak on a dead guy to want to see his face rubbed in a lifetime of the stigma of court martial.Beduin wrote:

who cares, no one should be dismissing people pissing on other people, dead or alive. context doesn't matter, it's degrading no matter how you put it.

Well then I'm sure you have no problem having some dribbled on you then, right? Or if someone at a funeral home pissed on your newly dead grandma, who cares because she's already dead, right?
If my grandma was voluntarily in the military and she got pissed on after getting killed in combat, I'd be more upset my grandmother was dead than that someone pissed on her. You can't strip out the magnitude here. Dead is forever. A little piss washes off.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Would you be upset if you found out someone pissed on your dead grandmas corpse?
Yes, they are dead and it's a military conflict. Did they gain anything of value by pissing on dead soldiers? Its not like death and the celebration/reverence of the dead is a fundamental of religion either. Yeah, now that you mention it I have no idea why it would upset some people.

Nope, Karzai was parachuted in and his status later 'confirmed' by a series of dubious polls.FEOS wrote:

atrocity?
Except dead grandma at the expensive funeral home probably isn't a dead enemy combatant. Anyway, I wouldn't give a shit if I was in a war and already dead, because I'd be dead and probably marinating in my own released waste anyway. I don't think a reprimand is out of order, but a court martial is silly.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

Rules are rules, you can't let soldiers think they can pick and choose which rules to follow.
I thought that was the whole point about military discipline.

wait watTom Cruise is rumored to be in talks to play the lead role in the Warner Bros. adaptation of Japanese novel “All You Need is Kill,” replacing a Japanese main character. Warner Bros., which is owned by the same parent company as CNN, is also in the pre-production stages of making a live-action version of “Akira,” a graphic novel that was made into a landmark 1988 animated feature film in Japan. All of the actors rumored to be in consideration for the upcoming film’s main characters are white Americans, although casting calls invited actors of “any race” to audition.

I hope they don't americanize the entire movie. I hate how for most foreign movies to get mainstream success here they have to re-filmed and americanized. It is especially a chronic problem when it comes to Asian movies.
I would be surprised if the new Akira didn't come out like this
No, I'm not upset. It's just utterly nonsensical that you would take such a position on total war: that it "didn't count" essentially until it was "academically published" or something. What complete tripe. Total war had been executed and conceptualized in various doctrines since the beginning of warfare. In fact, it was the only kind of warfare man really knew. And you are arguing that we didn't know about it or recognize it until after some academics got together and "recognized" it as such. What nonsense. Really. It just boggles the mind that you would think that is a reasonable position.Macbeth wrote:

Again I said the concept. In the academic sense which became part of published military policy.
You seem upset.
As for the Afghan government: the only one our military "installed" was the first one. Yes, we are helping the Afghan government with security. That doesn't mean that the elected government "doesn't count"--it was popularly elected by the Afghan people (yes, there were irregularities...find a country in that part of the world where there aren't).
I'd say if anyone was being obtuse--on both topics--it's you, Mac.

What a piece of shit, how can anyone vote for this guy? Paul or Huntsman all the way.

Sure. If you're a single topic voter, that approach makes sense.
He obviously recognized he had been set up to either change his position or be crappy to "a dude in a wheelchair." So he left a clearly staged situation.

It's not just the position but the heartless tone he has. I ain't a single topic voter (inb4dennis says i'm not a voter) but I just couldn't bring myself to vote for somebody who thinks banning a substance like marijuana is a good thing even when faced with a person like that. It says a lot about what kind of person they are.
It's amazing how many candidates constantly harp on about freedom and liberty when only very few politicians actually care about preserving those things. The left will tell you what to eat while the right will tell you who to marry.

They sure have different motivations.
