The fuck? They're not nazi's on assigning keys. I remapped a lot of keys for the short time I played it. Maybe you were doing it wrong.

Unless they patched it in recent months, there were several keys around the arrow keys I was barred from assigning to anything. It really sucked because there's so many controls I needed to move to the right.

Left hand mouse, right hand keyboard. There are more keys surrounding up/down/left/right than WSAD, which is beside the fucking point. Why offer keyboard customization if you're going to pick several keys that a player can't use?Uzique wrote:

Using the numpad as your hand center as a lefty usually results in not one (as with WSAD) but two gaps to either side of your hand. To the right is nothing and to the immediate left is only ten usable keys. Lefties who use the arrow keys have like 47 keys within immediate reach, and it doesn't help us when developers disable several perfectly good keys in the region.Stimey wrote:

How about I just buy an Xbox if I want to do that? Also, good luck fitting all the Arma functions on a 360 controller without dealing with a nightmare tangle of comm roses.
This is great for WSAD and numpad users who have a giant open space to their left or right, but doesn't look practical for me for a number of reasons:
1) I have about fifty keys within reach of the arrow keys already. Why should I have to spend more money and learn a new key layout just because a few developers don't think it's important to let you bind \, backspace, CTRL, ALT or ;, to name a few?
2) Sometimes I'm sitting way back on a comfy chair to reduce eye strain with the keyboard on my lap and the mouse on a hard pad right next to it. If I adopted that thing into my routine, I'd have to stick it and the keyboard on a hard base to keep them within consistent distance from one another. This would be both clumsy and make it more difficult for me to keep it balanced on my knees when using the joystick.

If I did that, I'd probably be using WSAD (but complaining about the off-set W).
