looking for advice on a windows 7 laptop or netbook.

i dont intend on taking it away from the house, but want to be able to access the web and play games without having to spend my whole life in the spare bedroom where my pc is located.

budget would be £500 max. is the asus still the best option or has anything else arrived in recent months?

cheers.

Luv my asus netbook

I don't game on it, so I can't give you a rating on that but for everything else it does the job

I like the 10.5 hour battery life, has built in webcam, movies look and sound good it

the 1215n can't play games

no seriously I can't even get morrowind running smoothly on it

it can play HD perfectly thanks to the ION gpu but it's shit for games

otherwise a nice laptop

ive looked at Alienware, but if im honest im never really going to fps game on it; it would be good to have web access away from the confines of the pc and the asus seems good enough for that.

a thinkpad X series might be nice for this, depends what you can fit into your price range.  right now you could get a pretty nice one (with a dedicated graphics card) for under $500
