Con Hill who plays Vares is one of my oldest friends. Kind of strange having a beer with him still with his bald head after seeing him on the TV. I also know Michelle Fairly who plays Catherine Stark as she is also from my home town. Ive done loads of work for her family.
Its all filmed here in Northern Ireland and loads of my friends have been extras. Another girl I know played one of Vare's "little birds" in the last series too.
The harbour of the Iron Islands was filmed about a mile from my house and I recognise loads of the locations as we have some amazing scenery around where I live and they used loads of that.
When filming the last series they had a big tent village setup along the coast. The wind blew the lot down and injured a load of people.
HBO have brought loads of money into our local economy. Seams everyone I know is working as an extra or building sets. They also donate money to the local communities when they shut down their harbour to film or whatever. They are using the Massive Harland and Wolff buildings in Belfast (where they built the titanic) to do all the indoor stuff.
Good times for the film industry here. Looking like the next promethious film is going to be filmed here too.

I hate how they pronounce Arya in the first few episodes, as it sounds completely different to how I say it in my head, and it really stands out. Towards the later episodes of the first season they seem to start saying it more like how I say it.
