Switching from XP to Windows 7 for BF3

Hello,

I've heard that Battlefield 3 will not support XP anymore, so therefore I want to switch to Windows 7.

Now I'm not sure if I'd go for the 32-bit or the 64-bit OS. I don't really know if all my current pc components are compatible for 64-bit.

Here's a screenshot of the setup I bought 2 years ago:

So are all those components 64-bit compatible? (I've also got 6GB's of RAM into my pc, since I bought another 2 GB a few months ago... I know... it's not worth it when using XP 32-bit )

Oh and the reason why I haven't switched to win7 x64 sooner is because I think Windows XP fits my needs uptil now... But when I heard BF3 didn't support XP I was forced to switch xD

Oh and would it make a big difference in performance then?

XP is by far the best OS Microsoft produced. as far as windows systems go i, personally, would never switched from XP if not for the lack of support by hardware and software developers sucking MS's dick riding MS's marketing wave.

You'll likely notice a performance increase simply because now you'll be able to use ALL your RAM and GPU memory because you'll be using a 64-bit OS. Win7 also, iirc, scales multiple CPU architecture better than XP.

Seriously? Forget the marketing and look at the actual OS itself: increased security, better performance, better updating procedures, Internet Explorer 9 (a browser that is actually revolutionary if you look beyond the name), etc. Vista alone was superior to XP sans the performance, but that's because the OS itself was ahead of its time. Win7 brought all of the benefits of Vista and optimized it for multiple kinds of hardware - how can you possible say that Win7 is better than XP? Win7 defecates on XP's rotting carcass and dumps it in the ocean.

Nah it's not only specifically for BF3 only. I just want to upgrade my Pc in general, since staring at the same thing for 2 years gets boring sometimes ^^

And it's not like its a huge investment so...

+ I was planning on formatting and reinstalling my whole pc at August, to start the schoolyear with a clean pc again
