I've been hearing a lot of rumbling about us being in another web bubble, this is idea reaks so badly of same thing that happened 10 years ago it's amazing. 3D shopping could actually be useful IF embedded into a 2D site as is already sometimes done. There are instances where I wouldn't mind being able to rotate a 3D image of something I want to buy rather than rely on the photo alone; particularly with Newegg.
