Crazy storms in New England

I absolutely love thunderstorms. So naturally we get the biggest storms in years the day I fly a plane to Florida x_x. My friend, however, was still in new hampshire to witness the mayhem. This afternoon, his neighbor across the street's house was struck by lightning. Apparently set the whole attic on fire and would have taken the whole house with it had it not been raining. Here's some pictures he took:

Srz. Tampa was the lightning capital of the world, not sure if it still is. It's definitely the lightning capital of the US. We also are #3 in the amount of tornadoes we get. Now we are going into Hurricane season and we're getting to the point we have heat lightning almost every night. I took this a couple days ago. Camera phones suck at night, but here is is anyways.

It does make for some crazy cool sunsets though

This Storm^ Skip to about halfway through.

In a couple weeks we will have thunderstorms everyday starting at about 5PM.

Really anyone around the gulf coast can relate to these sounds.

7 tornados touched down in the Greater Springfield Area. One in downtown Springfield (20 miles from me). The storms were intense. Golf ball size hail, high winds, insane amounts of lightning, and loud thunder.

A freak occurrence for this part of the country, last tornado that hit here was maybe 4 years ago, and that one landed in the middle of no where.

I was in the house (at work) when lightning hit. Fucked half the circuits in the house and needed a whole bunch of shit to be fixed by electricians.

It was trippy. I was talking to one of my colleagues and then we both stopped as we heard this electrical buzzing sound for about 1-2 seconds, then a MASSIVE crack of thunder as all the windows lit up. Freaked the shit out of us.

Another story: The other week we had a big thunderstorm (as we do here in Brisbane) and on the way home in the afternoon the light was a combination of yellow sun just above the horizon about 45 minutes before sunset, shining under the clouds overhead which continued to spark lightning. The combination of sunlight and lightning was very cool.
