Aright gents, let's try to keep it civil and leave the off-topic jabs to PMs and karma.

After mulling over what was said in the previous thread and talking to some friends who carry, I've started looking at revolvers.  This one has the addition of a laser sight.  For $499 at Gander Mountain it's not a bad option from what I've seen so far.

yeah and when you think about the situations you'd use a concealed weapon in a laser sight probably wouldn't be of much help.  I'd just go with a plain revolver.  I've been looking at sig sauer's lately.  Not revolvers but pretty fucking sweet.  Feels nice in the hands too.  I've been contemplating the P229...

S&W 60  .357 mag atop.

It all boiled down to convenience for me.  I decided I didn't want to carry a full size, even the magnum there was kinda a pain to wear around.

However, this one is worth a look, Sig 238.

I'm a tall enough guy (6'2") to carry a full frame pistol I guess.  But for comfort, smaller would be better I think.  I'll have to check out some of the smaller autos and see how they feel.

I'll never buy another kimber.
Wouldn't mind these two though; since we're on 1911's.

Im 6'4, got big hands and most of these compact pistol grips have me gripping them with my pinky and sometimes ring finger hanging off the edge, i need a full frame gun.

Oh yeah? You have personal experience? Since when does the state of California allow minors to carry concealed?

Since trying to conceal it at tactical handgun training courses and me being 5'10'' and skinny as a twig the gun is a big pain in the ass to hide while wearing "normal" clothes AND it's uncomfortable as hell. Still my favorite handgun though.

Oh, tactical handgun training course. Did you take the course while living in Switzerland? Liar.

Hammerless .38, if we're talking about concealed carry. Packs a punch and isn't all that bulky.

Bobtailed commander 1911s are nice.
In 1911s, I think the CCO size is probably the best all-around.

Glock 19 would be good.
For something smaller, Kahr MK/PM9, Walther PPS, or something like that.

I think $500 is a bit much for that gun, although the price is mainly driven up by the laser.  A laser on a weapon designed to be used 5-7 yards is mostly unneeded.  for the money, i would look to see if you could upgrade to the scandium (or similar) which shoots 38+P / .357.   or go cheaper with a 642/442 model, or ruger LCR.  the LCR has a really nice front sight.  I own a 442.
