the only way you could consider it confusing or complicated is if you're too simply retarded to be able to substitute terms like-for-like...

yeah, exactly. and lol at the attempt to controversialize "teaching religion in schools!" heaven forbid should we have 12 year olds as pig-ignorant and intolerant as the average american high-schooler. they are not mandatory higher-level education courses. you just have a basic introduction to, oh you know, the other religions and cultures in the world other than your own. scary in america, i know, where educational 'freedom' basically means "why learn about them they're different to us!"

You grew up in the system, i didnt. She said there were seven half-terms as well. No idea what that means.

If it's so easy for you, explain our credit, gpa, and quality points system.

No, our nation was simply built on freedom of religion and separation of church and state. Our public schools are designed to be wholly secular.

'Religious Studies' Are exactly that, study of religion, not indoctrination into it.

And evolution is discussed in religious studies, not biology

a term is a semester. again, we use the traditional term, you use a new one. point the finger at yourselves for needlessly altering all the educational vocab! our schools are wholly secular, too... you think we preach one religion over the other? educating somebody about the religious and cultural norms of a people unlike yourself is wholly applaudable, imo... how do you guys learn from a young age how to know and respect the practices and ways of other people? it teaches temperance, open-mindedness, acceptance of plurality, etc. very much essential skills and viewpoints for the modern, multicultural and globalized era. religion isn't indoctrinated, it's just a class for kids up to like age 14 to be educated on basic cultural identities. and in fact, 75% of those classes are given over to a form of super-basic philosophy and ethics... which is also, again, very beneficial for the young developing mind. i see zero problem with it. if you want to cling to some "freeeedom!" rhetorical bullshit as a way to excuse small-mindedness and teaching your 13 year olds nothing about the other people's of the world... have your cake and eat it.

I agree with Mr. Zique.

It's not teaching you to be religious, it's teaching you what religions are

I had this same conversation with her last night. She's about to go back for a one year masters program at Chester in order to teach religious studies.

Anyway, the problem is that here, people would be perpetually offended if their religion was incorrectly taught, or under emphasized. It would be non-stop litigation for little benefit. Education certainly leads to tolerance, there's no denying that. It just wouldn't work here.

ironic that we teach about religion in school yet our country is about 1000x more secular and atheist than america

in america you completely avoid the topic of religion because it's not "separation of church and state", yet 75% of your population believe angels exist

lets criticize britain's education system!!!

some public (in the sense they're non-fee, open to the public) are 'faith' schools though. all this means is the church gives them money, which they then spend on stuff like a new car for the headmaster. we also have technology, business, arts and so on and so on schools.

Two pool employees and their supervisor were forced to resign on Wednesday after a woman's body went undetected in a public Massachusetts pool for four days in June until her body floated to the top.

The Vietnam Veteran's Swimming Pool manager and assistant manager -- as well as the Southeast Regional Director of the state Department of Conservation and Recreation, have resigned --according to a statement released by Edward Lambert, the agency's commissioner.

Lambert requested they leave their posts because of "poor decision making and failure to follow (department) pool protocols."

The resignations come in the wake of an investigation into the drowning of Marie Joseph, 36, on June 26. Joseph's body wasn't discovered until the evening of June 30 by teenagers at the pool in Fall River
