Taking courses to get ahead. I couldn't get an internship, I didn't want to work a menial retail job and I didn't want to sit on my ass for three months. I'm getting 7 credits (two classes) out of the way. One's a business major prerequisite (statistics ) and the other satisfies two general education prerequisites (lab science and diversity). It's been a bitch but I'll probably get a B in both, good enough for me frankly after getting all As in the spring.
It's weird since now I'll be a junior after next semester.

Statistics were rubbish at Uni. I did like the logic courses though. They were so easy. If B then C, if not C then A is so simple and the notation was great. But statistics can fuck right off.

wtf __gger I'm in college lol. Here it's based on both year and credits. So normally if it's your third year of college you're considered a junior. But you're also considered a junior once you have 60 credits, which is about the halfway point for most degrees. I'll have 63 credits after the fall semester, meaning I'll be a junior. And I wouldn't have been living dude, I would have been playing fucking Rock Band and whacking it multiple times daily. At least right now I'm being productive with my life.

The "years" in college carry over from high school (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior). He'll have enough credits to qualify as a junior before he actually has completed 3 years. Sucks for me because I'm like 2 credits away from being a semester ahead (and you get to register for classes slightly earlier, though I'll be a senior in the fall so I get to sign up pretty early anyway.)AussieReaper wrote:

for us college (nobody calls it college) courses could be picked no matter what year you were in with your degree, so long as any pre-requisite courses had been taken.
so you couldn't study advanced programming without passing basic/intermediate.
We don't get a 3 month break here. I think I would've forgotten everything if we had. lol

Yeah, for the most part you can do that here too. Some courses are restricted to people with over/under X credits because they want to have them available to people who need them (e.g. gen ed requirements for first and second years and major requirements for third and fourth years).
And word, the three month summer vacation is pretty ridiculous when you think about it. Don't think it'll ever go away though, not any time soon.

It is strange isn't it? Before university-level, you went to school for 7+ hours a day, 5 days a week and then you get a hell of a lot less class and (in my case, at least) more free time.
