Ok I realize I'm screwed with my old standby ATI Radeon 9000.

My selection is a new GeForce 6800 but before I lay down $$ I would like to hear from you 6800 owners.

Does the card work with the new 1.2 patch?
Any issues?

Thanks

Why not look at the prices of the 7800GS in AGP flavour? should be a  6800 beater

1) adds a few $100 more to the card price.
1a) From what I'm reading the the cost of a 7800's is not worth the performance gain. (might be wrong, but have not found proof yet.)
2) (and most important) got the bosses OK to expense the card... w00t

That's why I'm worried about it's use. It would SUCK to expense the card then find out it-no-workie.

It works fine.  I am running a AMD 64 3500, 1gig Ram, and a 6800gt and I am usually one of the first players into the server.  The graphics are great, but I dream of the day to have dual SLI 7800's!

I've had my XFX 6800GS for a couple weeks now and I'm very happy with it. No problems with the patch and with my AMD 64 3200 and gig of ram I can run everything on high except lighting and get 50-70fps. This review of the 6800GS shows that it basically gives the same performance as a GT for a lot cheaper price.

You won't be disappointed if you get the GS.

Any thoughts on BFG Tech?

Well, it is by far the most popular 6800GS AGP on newegg, they sold out of it. I've never heard anything but good things from BFG so I would go for it.

Here are some customer reviews of the card from newegg.

Yes sir.
I own a PCIex 6800 GT. Never had any graphical problems prior or after patch. I run BF2 with all graphical options set to high plus 4 sample AA. Have 2GB pc4300 ram, abit fatal1ty mobo, 3.4 Ghz cpu.
Plus overclocked it to near ultra specs.

I had a 6800 for about a year and it had no issues with BF2 at all. Though it wasn't really an "all-star performer"

I run a MSI NS6800GT T2D265E (Look at sig.) I run evertying on 1024x768 on high detail etc. It is worth the 300 euro's, better get 2 SLI cards!

But M730A2, if you upgrade your videocard, and want to spend that kind of money, be sure to upgrade your CPU to atleast a AMD64 3500+ or you will still have performance issues.
