i'm planning a complete rebuild using an Asus P8P67 PRO mobo but both my harddrives are currently IDE, so will also be replaced.

how can i restore a master back-up file when the new mobo doesn't seem to support IDE?

also going to buy windows 7, so will the master back-up file be compatible if it was created under xp?

thanks.

The best way is to simply install windows 7 on your system, and then copy your files that you wish to keep over from xp.
everything i write is a ramble and should not be taken seriously.... seriously.

I believe he's asking how to transfer stuff to his new computer when it no longer has IDE connectors.

You could also look at an USB-IDE enclosure if the converter doesn't work.
