And yet a lot of people I meet still have law school as a backup plan if they can't find a good job. It's like freshman year where everyone is pre-med and you just think "there is no way you're going to medical school".
good thing i don't plan on going to college.

it's sold here as some plush profession of middle-class comfort... then £45,000 later after all the legal courses and exams you're kicked out to compete for 1-year contractual placements where the competition is like 25 to 1. not only that but people without law degrees (any majors with the time and money and willpower, basically) can crossover into the legal profession by skipping the line and doing the same post-graduate legal courses/exams. it's hideous. best of luck to would-be lawyers.

i don't live on campus 'cause there is never any living spaces left.
i think like 5% of uni students live on campus? there is shit all living quarters
i'd say like 80% of the people in my degree still live at home.
this whole "tight" university experience isn't very predominant in au afaik.

i love how a guy from a naval college downtalks to me about the typical 'undergraduate student' experience, as if he ever had one, and then uses some spurious knowledge about me partying and having a great time to discount my own experience. i rinsed 3 years for all they were worth and i'm crazy nostalgic about university. i had the best time of my life, better than anything i could have hoped as a naive and immature 18 year old. who is jaded and bitter here? sounds like you, galt. all i said was that it's ridiculous imo to live away from uni, you're missing out on the most formative experience of your young adult life.

That 'naval college' happens to be a pretty damn good business and engineering school. Graduates coming out of it rank #14 in the country for mid-career median salary. Fuck, I made the wrong choice.

Besides Uzique, before you decided to go on an anger fueled rant, what I was trying to say is that if he lives at home, there's probably a reason for it. You're not in his shoes and can't make his decision for him. And lol at '90% of undergraduates in the UK dorm' so what? How is that relevant or even a convincing argument? "Everyone else is doing it so you should too". What a follower you are.

1) 90% of people move out for university because it is fun, an enriching and formative experience in a young adult life, or:
2) 90% of people move out for university because they are sheep, hipsters, trend-following faggots, people desperate for acceptance.
hmmm. tazz has already said people don't move out of home for university in aus because of the geography and 'culture' of campuses. it is radically different in the uk (and the us, too). why are you still arguing? we've already established that you went to a vocational college as a mature student after blasting through all of your young-adult life in a dustbowl. leave the undergrads to discuss their undergrad experience, yeah?

but they have to drive fucking buses all day and like Jay said they're part of a very generous union

No, I never said that 90% of people are sheep, hipsters, trend following faggots and people desperate for acceptance. I was talking about you personally Uzique. I wasn't characterizing everyone that dorms. You went on a rant about parties and pussy and everything else that you found enjoyable about college life. Not everyone is into that stuff.Uzique wrote:

clearly being facetious about 'parties and pussy', though for most it is a memorable part of their undergraduate life. im sorry you missed that because you were the old guy that had missed the freshman boat.

fair enough i just personally know a few people that have 100k paying jobs, most are electricians or work in that field without college degrees. then again most of them say now days you really do need a college education but that wasn't my point and that's just their opinion.Jay wrote:

@rthki, my uncle is a multi millionaire through electrical contracting and lives amongst rich doctors and that sort lol. he doesn't have any college education but i would imagine he basically has the equivalent of a business degree or something considering how successful he's been in what he's did and is currently doing.

I didn't miss out on anything Uzique. I had plenty of fun while I was in the army. Unlike your typical undergraduate student, I actually had money in my late teens, early 20s and a car to travel around with. I'm not saying that one experience is better than the other, but I definitely don't feel like I missed out on any 'wild times'. I mean what do you think I was doing on the weekends? Sitting in my barracks waiting for some sergeant to give me tasks? No. I was free on the weekends and spent many a weekend night at parties around the University of Texas in Austin. Again, having money made it even better.Uzique wrote:

So please, stop trying to argue with me. I'm frankly tired of reading your name next to posts. You come here, you belittle people out of boredom, and then you wander off. You're a miserable person and I doubt I'm the only one that is tired of you. Go away already.
