yesterday after I installed dead space 2 my computer started to shut off on its own. at first it did it only while playing video games. ok now it does it even when I'm just browsing internet. could it be a bad graphics card or the processor overheating ? sorry I had typed this with my phone. my graphics card was running at 60 degrees celsius, that is typical for my graphics card. the processor running at 40 degrees celsius, but usually idol around 30 to 33. Thankss for the helps everyone!
Can you check the temps while gaming? Sounds like it could be teh CPU shutting the PC down to prevent damage. But if your measurements are accurate it is probably not the issue.
Roll back any newly installed drivers or applications and test.
Still fucking up? Then run memtest86 see if you get any errors.
Might also run chkdsk /f /r from elevated command line as well.

Now as soon as I turn the computer on it doesn't even boot and shuts back off almost immediately. Maybe it is the psu?
Could well be I've seen a couple of very similar situations and the culprit was the psu.
Have you tried flashing the cmos

Ok so I ran the computer in safe mode, once it would let me get that far, and it hasn't shut off yet, running chkdsk now
it just shut down during check disk ...
For some reason when I run chkdsk it stops at 14% but the files continue to be processed.
It keeps shutting down during chkdsk. Any input?

It could be power related as well. Strip it down to basic components. See if it crashes.
Dont know why I didnt think of that. What are you specs?

I did strip it down to bare necessities. Keeps shutting down. I have had this computer since bf2 came out.. mothrboad was rplaced due to a storm a few years back. 700w psu, never had this problem
Well, see if you can run memtest. If not, see if you can strip it down and try another PSU. Sounds like your PSU might be failing, what brand is it?
Upon further inspection I found that onee of the fans on the mini isnt working...
Fucking smart phone spell check, mobo, not mini. God cannot damnitttyytytttgtgg

mini?
Edit: ah mobo lol. try cleaning the fan, I had one on my old mobo that would stick on the Northbridge and that would cause crashes, cleaned it with a paint brush and sprayed some WD 40 on it and it was fine.

Thanks, I found an old crafts paintnrush and got a nasty glob of dust out. Running chkdsk again.
That could have been your issue right there. If the North Bridge was over heating that system would def crash.
could it have been damaged? it still shuts off
Not sure, like I say I had same problem with the fan, and once I sorted the fan out it was fine. Have you checked that the fan is running properly now (and that it keeps going, mine used to start up and then stop after a few mins)?eusgen wrote:

PSU still a strong suspect imo.

Need a recommendation on motherboards, Biostar or Asus?
Asus.
msi
if you open your mind too much your brain will fall out.
Yea I figured. I am going with a mobo that has heat sinks instead of fans. (That was my second mobo I have had to replace). The first was cause lightning hit the cable line and came through the Ethernet cable.
Currently looking at... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813131773
new computer hardware
Still have everything else I need. Will upgrade video card and such when BF3 comes out

I originally wanted to get MSI but I read some bad reviews that scared me off. And the fact that it is 8.3 inches wide and there were some problems with fitting the ram in with aftermarket cooling (which I will be using).Shahter wrote:

times when it was asus and everything else are long gone. i've seen as many faulty asus mobo's over several past years as any other brand. msi and asrock are, imo, at the best quality/price ratio atm. but if you don't feel comfortable, or have some special gear you aren't sure would fit, just get a mobo you think would be best.eusgen wrote:

p.s. you do plan to overclock that shit, don't you? because getting all the fancy stuff you mentioned above and not overclocking it would be tilting at windmills, you know .
