Girlfriend and I are planning on saving up and visiting South America at some point in the summer (Somewhere end of May/June), and I thought I'd ask you guys if you have any experiences/tips.
The main destination was/is set to be Cuba, but the idea of visiting other places once we've made the long trip is quite appealing. Neither of us has any experience with South America, but on our list of points of interest are Peru (Machu Picchu, which I hear has become tourist-infested. Oh well.) and Brazil.
So some questions are:
- What are some of the must-see places once you've made the trip to the continent?
- I'm kind of guessing it'll be relatively cheap, but what kind of price-level can you generally expect to face once you're there?
- How easy/expensive is it to travel between the countries?
We've not set a budget; the plan was rather to see how much it would cost and then make sure we have that at the end of the year. We would be looking to stay in Hostel-type places, rather than hotels.
Muchos lovos.
