You know what's ironic? I seem to remember when the game FIRST came out and I first joined this forum that people were complaining to no end that the Sniper claymore was an idiotic self defense mechanism. That any friendly should and would know about it and not intensionally set up a claymore. That TKs were silly and that Snipers sucked at putting claymores in places where friendly's wouldn't go. Snipers on the other hand complained that their own team would ignore the skull and crossbones and walk into claymores regardless.

So after all this complaining they change the claymores so they don't kill friendlys.

And NOW you COMPLAIN yet again that they don't kill friendlys.

You know what? Make up your fuckin minds. Do you or do you NOT want Claymores to kill friendlies?

no one is complaining about, that claymores do not kill friendly no more. the point is, that claymores now can be used to spam areas, without a chance to clear it, when you notice them. as i said, i got my explosive badge by using it, but i think it would be better, when mines/c4/claymores could still be destroyed by other explosives or discharged by engineers...

You know its not even worth arguing or reasoning with these guys anymore.

I think instead of continually reading these complaining threads I'll just go play some more Bf2 and drop some claymores in the Karkand Alleys or sit in an IGLA for a couple of rounds.

What gets me is that I was blown up by a claymore that was in the street and i was in a jeep.  I blew me and two passengers up.  Shocked the hell outta me!  Maybe they could do that before but I had not seen that happen in all my hours of play. 

I foresee 64-man server all snipers with that new AWP gun running around, placing their claymores facing around the capture radius of every capturable flag on both teams. This would result in negligible flag caps leading to snipe / pistol / knife fights.  Only perceivable remedy I see is for a kamakazi class that can take out the claymores by the only available current means ... his own tender flesh!   Then, the rest of the squad quickly attempts a flag capture all the while being sniped from every angle. 

Scary world ... Dream come true ... guess it all depends on your preference of "whoring"

Yes, DICE/EA fucked up bad. It is retarded in the first place that you can plant claymores on concrete, but not being able to kill friendlies just encourages people to use them more. Same with mines.

If DICE/EA had any ounce of common sense, they would have made it so that friendlies can set them off, they just do less damage. Example, enemy walks over clay, boom, dead, Friendly walks over, boom, hurt, not dead, no team damage either. That way, people would be discouraged to whore them, yet not scared to use them. Same goes for mines. In fact, it would have made most sense if they had added some kind of server side option that can change the percentage of damage done by friendly explosives or even fire in contrast to the amount of damage done to an enemy.

But of course, the developers have no sense of balance.

I knew this would catch on.

The moment the US team realised there was no way into the hotel from their spawn they simply had no choice other than kill themselves on the mines I planted and that support guy "Ammo here" was simply loving all the points he was gaining, especially once the rest of the team worked out that planting claymores in entrances was an easy way to get lots of kills.

Nice idea, but sadly they didn't bank on people like me exploiting it

Basically EA did mess up 50% on the claymores.  I think teammates not setting them off is a good thing, but if a claymore is anywhere near the blast radius of a grenade it should go off. Only grenades, C4, or any INFANTRY based explosives to predetonate them, not vehicular based explosive like APC rounds, Chopper guns, or tank shells. Same deal for mines.  Is that realistic? No, but the balance is better, so you would then be able to clear out claymored flags with a grenade.  I think AT mines should work the same way, no FF but CAN be destroyed by infantry based explosives.  This makes it so that armor whore have to get out of a vehicle to clear the path manually, than to shoot by it before.

Lets face it, the AT mines and claymores were worthless in 1.12, but now they are 2X more effective than they need to be. No FF is good, but indestructible is bad.

thanks to ea we can all enjoy this crapy pile of shit game they are making it into i knew this would happen. tits cry about 1 thing they try fix it you get a whole new bunch of fucktards to find a new toy. turn the damn game into an infantry only game ea why dont ya. you make me sick at this rate i will put desert combat back in and play with the few that do play it.

I prefered the C4 tossing because to get that right you had to have some skill and practice. Now there's claymores all over the place.

Either way, somebody has got to complain The good players will adapt and find their new style and the others will complain.

The whole FF where Claymores are concerned is up to the server, it can turned on or off.

I'm hoping the patch will be sorted out soon, but judging by their lack of interest and blatent disregard to the serious issues in BF2, I'm not holding my breath.

I agree.  EA really did mess up with the claymores.  They needed to EITHER make them so they could be picked up (and also blown up) OR so that they don't kill teammates.  Instead they did both.  I was playing Karkand 64 player today and the battle at the first spawn was just stupid due to claymore whoring.

EA needed PLAYERS to test the patch, NOT a bunch of guys who test games for a living. They havnt played the game enough to know what players will try and do in that one game.

Ok one thing I will add from my previous post is this.

I do agree that Claymores should be able to be gotten rid of via grenades or other explosives. After all they are just an explosive wrapped in metal and plastic.

Now mines I can understand not been set off with grenades. However I think they should be able to be set off via C4.

As for C4. Well I think that an engineer or spec ops should be able to pick them up and defuse them.

Yes I can't wait for the "G" pick up option to pick up your own C4 and Claymores.

But I still agree with EA's decision on making Claymores not hurt teammates.

that's fine and all IF they weren't indestructible. Right now you can just set up an impeneterable defence with claymores, there's nothing tactical about it.

No claymores were not retarded before, the people placing them were often the retarded ones.

I've seen people place them in the most stupid of places and then have the cheek to say "OMFG YOU RETARD RAN OVER MY MINE"... Well maybe if you didn't put that claymore where I was going to spawn or on top of a ladder that is frequently used by the team then we wouldn't always run over your fucking mines.

Admittedly some people are daft and run over them for pleasure.

I just played Sharqi and 50% of my deaths came from claymores. You couldnt capture a flag without running into one of them.
In the new patch a sniper and a supply box can completely block 2 areas or just drop them in random places---> 2 free frags

Think of this: You re a US commander on Sharqi. You put 2 claymores on the entrances of the TV station. If one explodes you will just resupply yourself and plant a new one. That way the TV station can never be captured.

It should be changed to how it used to be.
