Despite the dentist giving me shit about it I almost never floss my teeth. They look fine doe.

Flossing is important, but there are tons of factors. Some people actually need to do so all the time, simply based on their own oral anatomy and saliva composition, etc. Others never floss, but rarely (if ever) have issues from it. If you dentist is telling you that you have periodontal recession, etc. and you need to floss - fucking floss! If they say everything is looking fine and you don't floss often/ever, you might be okay...but it could really start to become an issue at some point, so it's a good habit to develop.
Most of the students in dental school floss a few times a week, but there are those who have never had a cavity, floss twice a day, lead very boring lives, etc...
