Whenever I queued on my own under rank 8 I'd be the highest rank in a game. After 8, the game seems to not give a fuck, I was getting ranked with anything <20. Now I'm rank 10 and just getting stompedUzique wrote:

just played a round as a techie
was kinda fun, luckily I had a team that was constantly destroying more than just the generator so I was jumping around repairing everything
managed 10:10 k/d
such a diverse game this, I took absolutely no notice to the flag capping (aside from one time I was repairing a force field on the flag and the capper died and punted the flag to me and I finished the cap, was lol'ing quite hard)
pretty cool to think in the first games where I was grabbing the flag at 100kp/h there were techies repairing the base that I hadn't even noticed, and probably brutes and jugs destroying the defences too. Awesome game this, just gets better the more you play.

I'm not whining about the game because I'm getting owned. I'm doing just fine rolling every game in the low ranked 'noob island'. I'm just questioning if the game is worth getting good at. I had never heard of Tribes 2 because it never had a big competitive scene; if it was a big game it would have been everywhere. Fact is it was massively overshadowed by games like CS and Quake and I have no doubt that that was due to its niche mechanics like inheritance. The T:A beta started without inheritance and was only put in eventually because the veteran Tribes community asked for it.
If the game explodes I might play it seriously. In which case we'll see who's better at it in 6 months.
