I dont believe they shoudl be removed. Being a good fighter plane player takes a lot of skill and its something not everyone can do. I say keep them, fun to fly, would hate for them to be taken out of the whole game.

Except for the Red/Blue/Green bug which would cause you to always be getting team kills.Skruples wrote:

Seriously though, the "alliances" would be constantly changing throughout. If one team was leading the other two would go after the leader until one of them was the leader, then it would switch again. Probably be a lot of really close matches.
Thats the dumbest one yetBeefnCheez wrote:
Enemy Stupid Idea Spotted
I suggested something for planes in another thread. It went something like this:
"Add 'airstrike' command to commander abilities and squad leader requests. Place it on the map like an artillery beacon, and it is visible to the whole team. The airstrike marker sends a command to all aircraft to converge on the location and bomb it. Two teampoints will be awarded to a pilot or gunner for any number of kills above one made within the strike radius before the request expires (15-25 seconds, perhaps). Similar to artillery for commanders, pilots cannot be punished for teamkills made within the airstrike radius while it exists."
There. This would give planes something to do other than randomly fly about in search of targets of opportunity, while occasionally racking up negative team points from the one player who insists on hiding under the enemy tank by that flag that just went grey, and give the commander an easier way to coordinate air power other than by juggling unit type select and hoping his commands are obeyed.
Plucking jets out of BF2 and putting them in a booster pack would probably be the last straw form some EA customers.

While I do agree that BF2's air assets need to be balanced more (I already know how it can be done), I don't think that jets should be removed. BF2 would just become like any other ground-pounding FPS then. The vehicles is one of the main reasons I play BF2 and I don't even fly jets often.
Ya they already removed jets from BF2, its called Special Forces!
[sarcasm]I ve got a better idea, just remove the enemy intirely so they cant kill us anymore...[/sarcasm]
I like adonlude's surgestion, why dont you get yourself a copy of sf if you dont like jets?

Remove jets? And remove that nice bomb cargo on our heads after first 30 secs of the game? No thanks. For meit's better to be raped by jets , than by [BIG] number of helos only
I actually like unnamednewbie13's suggestion. The Commander should be able to order up air strike. Makes good sense.
Ok, my take on the jets. I don't fly pretty much at all by the way. Partially because I just can't do the mouse/keyboard thing very well and I cannot get my Saitek to work. Anyhow even though I can't use the jets I love to see them flying overhead and watching the dogfights take place when I'm not in the heat of battle. It just sort of adds to the battlefield ambience. I have to give anyone who can fly and fly well a lot of credit because they are an asset to their team. The aforementioned air strike command would make them even more so. I guess the only think that bothers me about the jets and I guess the BF game in general is how small the maps are and how unrealistic it really is to have supersonic jets flying around in such a confined space. I guess that's another reason I have to give props to the guys that fly the jets because I'm sure I'd keep going out of bounds. I played Delta Force a lot and I loved that the maps were for all intents and purposes endless. I never once ran out of bounds or even saw an end to a map. Too bad BF2 couldn't have larger maps like that.
Anyway long story short. Jets should not go even though I think they are a bit overpowered for the size of the maps.

I would like support guns to not have fixed aim when standing, same with sniper rifles and other rifles if helf for too long at one time, as in real life it is super hard to hold steady... then light machine guns would have more advantages
morters were u need two people to help would be cool or just worse than nades....
and Harriers with cluster bombs...
i would also like some more indoor fighting content.. and more accessible buildings...
a small Stalingrad of medal of honor would be cool...

For the laser stuff, I highly recommend Operation Flashpoint (plus Resistance). It is an AMAZING game, you can be a spec ops guy and laser target stuff for A10's, AH64's etc. It's great targetting something and moving your head watching the bomb as it drops on your target (like say a tank on a bridge).FSFGrimes wrote:

Whatever happened to a Spec Ops guy pointing a laser and a jet drops the bomb for the kill? I would have LOVED that. And it would just be like the artillary was in 1942. Give the A-10/Su -25 a handful of weapons so while its out there its deadly as hell but has at least a min and a half "rearm time". Think of it like this, the A-10 goes into battle with lets call it 4 laser guided weapons. 4 dumb bombs, 2 cluster bombs and 2 Aim 9 Sidewinders for self defense purposes. Not to mention it has a nice little cannon onboard. The Su-25 would have a rather similar package.
The only downside is that the netcode for the game is iffy with no join in progress, the followup games by BIS will apparently have this fixed.
I think it would be incredible in BF2 if as a spec ops guy you could laser target something and get an AH1 or F35/F15 to drop a bomb/missile on that target. It'd make for great videos...
I think it would be nice to have some small maps like iron gator or something for CQC. with NO artillery or planes or armor for that matter. That would be a great infantry battle where solid tactics would reign supreme.
Ability to have ear destroying heavy metal blasting from humvees and blackhawks.
and commanders should have badass sunglasses, cigar and stress beard.

Gotta love the topics where half of it is intelligent conversation and the other half is random banter of stupidity.
