When I am I pilot in a helicopter while playing special forces I experience a great amount of lag. This is bizarre because its only when I'm a pilot and only in special forces. The lag and fps loss I experience is unplayable. I can fly fine in Battlefield 2 and in the gunner position I don't experience any lag.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. I think it is definately the program's fault, like you sayed it playes fine in BF2, but SF is gay like that. Do you have an ATI card?

With the new patch my game is so laggy , so cluggy , so fucked up beyond all belief that I just simply can't watse my time playing it any more .

Try lowering your video in options.  I know it is nice to have kicking graphics.  I have my settings at low.  And game does not get choppy.  Play with the graphics some.  You also may want to shut down some of your computers background tasks.  Hope this helps you.  I have an ati card and have not had any problems with it since new patch been running same video drivers and settings.

I have the ATI Radeon 9600XT, and all my settings are on low, this only occurs when I'm flying helicopters in sf not in Battlefield 2.

im inclined to agree here
sometimes i experience such bad lag its unplayable - sluggish unresponsive movements, and it seems like my characters on ice... anyone else had this?

9600 pro lol your lucky to beable to play at low
i got Ati Radeon x850 XT and my settings are 1280x920 everything at medium but geometry at high and 2x AA...i get arround 50 fps average 35-40 for sf
