Let me begin with saying (a) I like shiny badges/medals and bright-colored ribbons, and (b) I am not very good ... BF2 is the first FPS I've played on-line (I played BF42, BFV and CSS only against bots).

I have to say that I get great personal satisfaction when I get a medal or ribbon without stat padding.  I get my combat badges by engaging in combat ... I get my repair badges by repairing needed assets ... I even got my Airborn Ribbon constructively, by paratrooping to cap flags ... one of these days, I'll even get my Ground Defense ribbon by using ground defense (not Commanding and dropping artillery while sitting in Ground Defense).  I gain experience, and the badge/ribbon reflects my achievement (which is the way I think it should be, right?).

The thrill of getting these legitimately is my motivation.

So, for those of you who stat-pad, what is your motivation?

(a)  Is it to impress your friends, hoping that your shiny badges & bright-colored ribbons will make them think you are more skilled than you really are.
(b)  Is it to qualify for promotions?
(c)  Is it to look good in forums ... because you want to get some respect through a signature that is full of awards?
(d)  Does it make you feel good personally to see that attached to your name, regardless of the way it was received?
(e)  Does it impress girls you are trying to date?

(Not trying to flame here, I'm really curious why someone doesn't want the thrill of getting these legitimately).

Another question... Is it some kind of Coop Tank Whoring when your team's tank and hostile tank are staying together and shootout infantry? That looks lame.

It's like moving the stickers around on a Rubix Cube...what's the freaking point in that?

The only single reason I would ever understand a statpadder's intentions was because they want the unlocks. EA should just give everyone the unlocks to begin with and we'd have less statpadders.

I always wondered whether stats padders would barge to the front of a queue in real life, or whether they would cheat at exams, or whether they could be trusted with other peoples' things.

Would they take a personal loss if it was for the good of the many?

Do they live their lives to honourable standards or do they think it is better to be liked than right?

If their country was invaded, would they collaborate with the enemy?

Would they show courage in battle?

Would they sneak a sniff of their sister's used panties?

Is their willingness to cheat a result of 'bad genes', bad parenting or bad experiences?

Were they bullies at school?

If they do good things, do they brag about them?

Are they closer to the animal world than non-cheats are?

If they are more prone to lying, cheating and manipulating, do they have more monetary wealth than people who don't?

A psychology student could write a thesis on this subject

I get satisfaction when other people are pissed off because I'm stat padding. Every time you kick or ban me it just makes me laugh and I get great pleasure out of pissing the general BF2 public off.

oh here you go:
