BF2S Forums Why do i lag alot on BF2?

80$ video card wont do the job, your RAM is too low (consider 1 gig) and your processor is outdated (at least about 2 ghz)

great im always going to lag on Bf2 bcz im to young to get a job. and im sure my mom wont give me money niether. I'm never going to be accepted in a clan that I like alot

Also at the moment, because of the new patch, there has been problems with certain video cards(mainly ATI's), which cause performance issues. I have an ATI and have experienced this so it is true.

but still, better card, processor, and more RAM is needed as stated before

I am/was in the same situation... I upgraded(lol) from a 1.8 p4 to a celeron 2.8[LMAO(im too broke to afford a proc. even tho i have the new 775(whatever) chipset from Intel) NOT by choice (also to add all i need is a PCI-E card for my amd64 mobo(bein broke sucks))

but anyways, ive been a lagass since day one(on my 1.8 originally). It got pretty disgusting cuz my Squad only plays on our 64-plyr srvr, and i just dealt with it(Being on a roof and moving a bit then ending up on the ground cuz of lag)... but sumhow i still managed to sustain a decent K...playing in above 32 player servers on maps other than Kark,Mash,Sharqi is an utter joke(although i still sumhow remain efficient at doing semi-decently)

but from what i understand u have a crapass grfx card. i have used the 9800pro and ive always run everything on LOW @ 1024x768 with View dist. on 100%(ill be damned if i let u bitchass snipers see me without me seein you)

Yep my gravics card does suck but i cant afford one and my mom doesnt lend me money and i dont get an allowance so the only thing i get money from is Christmas and Birthday parties thats it.

At 1.7 GHz, your Pentium 4 just barely meets the minimum requirement to run BF2.  Your RAM, at 512 MB, is also just the bare minimum to get BF2 to run.  And I'm guessing, for $80, you got a low-end graphics card like a 128MB Radeon 9250 or 9500, or a GeForce 6200.  These are probably to blame, but you know that already.

It could just be that the 1.2 patch has a lot of packet loss problems.  (Example: If you're running and you shoot your gun, then you get a "There is a problem with your connection" message, and suddenly you're back where you started and your ammo is still full, that's an example of bad packet loss.)

Or a combination of an outdated PC and EA's superb coding ability...
