For those of you ground pounding CS junkies who have been claiming that BF2 pilots are just a bunch of whining, base raping douche bags, have yourselves a look at this and tell us again that the AA is not totally screwed up. Thanks for nothing EA! You gave us something new and innovative and took it all away by turning it into yet another FPS clone. Huzzah!

You gotta dig how those flaming oil towers hold onto those stingers until just the right moment. Notice that not only did those missiles strike the plane, nearly killing it, but they also managed to zero in on the pilot! And I don’t think we need to talk about the rest of the missiles’ flight and tracking behavior; flying ultra-tight circles at speeds that would turn any normal warhead into so much scrap metal before it ever reached its target. Proof conclusive that anyone can hop onto any form of AA and spam missiles, guaranteeing themselves easy points all map long (either through kills or kill damage assists).

EA: Autmomated killer defense sentries anyone?
CS Community: Yes please! And weaken the aircraft while you are at it.
EA: You got it!

This has been commented on and linked to dozens of times, to a useless end. "Groundpounding CS junkies who have been claiming that BF2 pilots are just a bunch of whining, base raping douche bags" completely ignore the vastly recorded evidence of twitchy AA bugs in favor of the emotional high of revenge they get from being able to shoot at aircraft without even looking.

i dont see what the problem is.
people think the missiles on the jet are heat seeking, they are wrong.
flares are not supposed to be able to lock a missile onto them, rather lose target of the main target, giving the pilot a chance to roll away from the incoming projectile.
now then, a stinger works the same way.
i mean, why the hell would the US military develop a weapon capable of taking down an aircraft with a shoulder mounted ground to air missile, if it was so easy to circumvent with flares.
idiotic.
i understand that this might very well be the wrong place to post this so excuse my laziness.

Let's spice that up a bit.

Headline: As one of the various modifications to Battlefield 2 with its 1.2 patch, EA nerfs perceived lameness and further counteracts with something undeniably lame.

Not once have I whined about getting shot down (which still doesn't happen very often to me, even with beefed up AA), but I have pointed out on multiple occasions that a missile cannot drastically change its course as represented in BF2 1.2. All that needs to be done is to fix all these spammed 90 and 180 degree turns AA missiles are following. This way, AA guys would be back to shooting airplanes at ideal moments and angles, planes would be once again allowed to execute manuevers at their exceptionally slow Battlefield 2 velocity to dodge said AA, and bullets would be once again be sometimes favored against aircraft.

Just to add a bit of emotion to my retort, I will say that I am better than you just because I have a plane in my signature banner.

Exactly.
i myself am not a good pilot what so ever. i admit that.
you tell me i suck in a plane, and im the first to agree with you, but you know what, i dont care.
since the patch, i may have gotten shot down with AA a bit more often, but not a drastic increase.
there are ways to circumvent AA still. just gotta learn.

Well honestly I haven't noticed the AA, when using AA itself I notice it, but when flying I don't. Hell I even got my service ribbon with the 1.2 patch

It is rather apparent that you must be an ace pilot yourself there buddy. You managed to navigate your way onto this thread (without crashing), completely evade the point in the OP (did you bother to read?), circle around and come back with guns blazing using the same rhetoric as your comrades (read: "Now I will pwn all j00 jet whores while making a sandwich, taking out the garbage, and taking that piss that has been bothering me for the last half hour"), and finally you managed to devastate the rest of us jet whores by proving beyond any shadow of a doubt that what Unnamednewbie13 had to say in his post is certifiably true. I bet you had yourself a good laugh while you did it too. Good for you! Here's a cookie.

Now here is a novel idea for you:

Kindly fly your little TROLflcopter off-field and go mess up someone else's thread.
