Smoke grenade is being under used or not used at all.
It is most likely that you go into a server and seeing a smoke grenade never being utilized.
If smoke grenade could be held in place for a longer duration of time, people will utilize it more since now the support class fire- power is overwhelming.
If the team is pinned-down by a group of enemy and it is neccessary to breach through or create diversion, longer duration of smoke grenade would be useful.

Flares last plenty long enough. There is this thing called gravity though, so they tend to fall down. When in the jet before you drop flares roll left or right and hit the despensor just before you become fully inverted. The flares will be released in a slightly upward motion and will cover your ass for at least 3 seconds longer.

I think DICE should give them the same script as the tank ones, nice and long to find a hiding spot...

Give the assault kit 4 though, AND GET RID OF THOSE BLOODY FLASHBANGS...

Dont make them last as long as the America's Army ones though, they last for ever...

And I was talking more about the chopper flares. I dont know if you've tried this recently, but going inverted in a helicopter is a bit harder than in an airplane, and is usually a pretty crappy idea. The flares last about 3-4 seconds total, but the amount of time they effectively cover you is less than that, and with the aa-missiles on speed that we have in 1.2 its almost impossible to avoid getting shot. All I can say is thank god it takes 3 missiles to kill you now, or flying in any area with active anti aircraft would be suicide. Well, its almost suicide right now... but you get my point.

Planes use Chaff as a missile deterent, or glowing, heat emitting ribbons of Phosphorus, which burn white for about 10 seconds, not sure about choppers

Chaff is not used in game. Chaff is a radar missile countermeasure, the missiles in game are heat seeking.

I work on military helicopters and the flares on the CH-47D last about the same time as they do in game. Which is pretty much until they hit the ground. The problem is that they are launched in the downward position.

The MH-47E, which is a suped up CH-47D has dispensors which are pointed up and back. They protect the helicopter for a hell of a lot longer than the ones that fire down.

The best, most effective way to get the most out of your helicopter countermeasures:

- Wait until you hear the lock-on tone, not just the "trying to lock on"
- Press X then immediately floor the collective* while changing direction rapidly
- Accelerate into a dive and hope that you're in cover by now

The effect is that you drop the countermeasures and then drop with them, so you're surrounded and hopefully covered by them for the longest amount of time possible. The biggest risk here is that you've been locked onto by a Jet because if he's decent he's also lowered speed and he can fire a bunch more missiles point blank**. Since 1.2 in this situation you're guarenteed to take at least one hit, so all I can say is since 1.2 you need to have good air cover so that the enemy pilot can't afford to lower his speed. As a general rule, if you start off high in the air, you can then drop a lot to evade a jet and if you then go for the treeline, the jet will have difficulty in finding your new position on his second pass.

Flashbangs are good, they replace smoke grenades and actually see use.  Plus it's an unlock, so that makes it fair.

I forget which is which but i think chaff is the black charcoal stuff and the flares are what their name is

Yeah, (assault) smoke should last longer!

If I throw a smoke it is gone too fast and when i want a new smoke i have to pick up atleast 4 FCKING ammo bags before i get a new one.... thats really stupid. while grenates refill TOTALLY with 1 ammo bag.

Back to the thread guys. I do believe that assault smoke should last longer. But if ther was wind (real life) it would blow in a certain direction.

incorrect...flares are used in game and is actually what you have pictured here as well...chaff is nothing more than aluminum foil shred used to confuse radar guided missles...flares do the same thing, only they work against heat seeking missles

There is actually wind in the game, it just only affects supply crates. And its always at a constant speed coming from due south. On every map. Every time...

I guess coding variable wind was too much trouble.
