i recently noticed that i am laggy in battlefield, this may be because of the new patch but im not sure. I have formatted my computer around the time it came out so it may be my setwork setting causing the lag. After the reformat i have also noticed that my average download speed dropped from 100kbps to around 50kpbs.

If the patch is causing the lag can someone help me with my download speed thing.

I used to use xp home edition and i switched to pro for certain reasons.

Even though it says you're comp's connection is slowing down, 50kbps is plenty to play with a ping in the 100-200 range, no lag.  (I use a 80kbps connection and often dont lag on servers my friends with cable do.)  Lag is not always, and rarely caused by, your network speed.  80% of lag is graphics or proccessing lag.

I overclock my cheap videocard with ATI Tool, if you have and ATI video card, try maxing it out with that or just overclock in the Nvidia CP.

ALWAYS close as many background proccess as possible, they take a nice chunck of your CPU and RAM.  Also go over to www.secretsofbattlefield.com and read their tuning guide.

One last thing, make sure you have AT MINIMUM 512 MB of Physical RAM and 128 of VRAM (1.5gig and 512mb respectively is better).

Its not a hardware problem, i have been playing bf2 on the same setting and hardware for months now, i only noticed the decrease in download speed and lag in battlefield since I changed my operation system.

1.2 has issues with video lag.  I have noticed a marked increase in the number of maps that suffer from it.  Before the 1.2 patch I only experienced this problem in Special Forces.  Now I'm experiencing it on a couple of maps in regular battlefield as well.  It is most noticable while in aircraft.  But some maps it doesn't matter.  I have reformatted my computer and updated my video drivers to a new version than previously installed.  That has had no effect on the video lag.  I don't have special forces installed after the latest format and reinstall.  This has not changed the video lag at all.

I have ATI 9600XT wth 256mb ram and 1 gig ram on the motherboard.  There is no reason for it to lag like it does.

After patch I absoutely notice more studder with a good ping and a close connection to the server.
I've experience "Problem with your Connection" with servers that I was getting less than 30 ping on.
I've seen studder effects on the same servers.

Very annoying when all these issues appear after a patch and you have done nothing different on your end.

Most of it is to do with the servers upload speed

I had a lot of lag in servers before, but ever since I upgraded to 2 gigs of ram ive had no lag.
