All infantry only maps should be on 1 server. That way we can choose servers that have only infantry maps instead of maps we don't want to play. Finding new servers is tedious and in most cases you don't want to be bothered.

Special Forces and Vanilla in 1 server? No way,dude...
just read the description on the server menu before you join the server. If you have both then you have an option to play maps from both BF2 and SF in 1 server. Not hard to mod in a patch. Those that don't have it and don't read the description before you join the server will simply lose connection. This is not rocket science people!
It makes no sense why these maps need a separate program to run. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING DIFFERENT IN GAME PLAY BETWEEN BF2 AND SF. There is nothing Special and Special Forces that require it's own program and Server Menu to run it!
All maps, vehicles, weapons, characters and buildings as well as zipline and graveling hook (sp) can be intergrated into 1 and only 1 executable program. You know what it's called BF2.exe.
nothing more, nothing less!

At the same time, kick out players that don't have SF??? Ludicrous.
come on people lets vote on this...
Thats what their gonna do with euro. There will not be another "game" so servers can run both if they want, unlike with SF and regular BF. So if you playing strike, and the level changes to a euro, you will be booted out.BlackLegion42 wrote:

that's right so what difference does it make? We mind as well have all the maps under 1 program BF2. Not BF2/Euro and SF that makes no sense.Snipedya14 wrote:

All the maps should be put together. That way servers can pick and choose which maps they want on the rotation. For me I like to have Karkand, Sharqi, Warlord and Ghost Town. You may want to see servers with other maps on the rotation. However, most of all may not want all the maps on 1 server because we all have favorites.
why dont u jsut mae a SF mod and bring all maps into that?
ive played sf for 4 hours since it came out , cuz i cant be arsed to come of server's with kark and shaqi to change ,i am plain lazy .
No being lazy is not the point...number901 wrote:

-everyone doesn't have 2 gigs of ram some have 756Megs other 1 gig. When you actually exit out of BF2 to enter SF some have to do it manually. They don't dare let BF2 do it for them because of the length of time it takes to actually exit out of BF2 once you are at the desktop. A lot of people have reported hearing the BF2 theme once they are at desktop for some time. This length of time to exit properly out of BF2 just to enter SF can and will cause problems. For exmple by the time you enter SF2 the server is either full or no longer showing up in your server menu
-as I stated before, it makes no sense to have 2 of the same game just to play a different set of maps. There is no difference in game play and there are no special forces missions. It's the same cap flag and move on.

because we want it to be a ranked server so we can keep the points we earnFFLink13 wrote:

I think it is a good idea. In every other game; if you don't have the map/mod for the next map in the rotation you simply lose your connection. This should have been done in the first place.
As for which maps to use. Kark, sharqi, warlord, ghost town, and Gator would be my votes (I know Gator isn't really an urban map but it does have some intenses close quarters combat inside the ship).
This should be something EA/DICE could fix really soon with a patch...a patch like 1.21 (would be better than the "Confirmed fixes" they have listed"
I wish people would quit using "I don't have enough RAM" as an excuse not to do someting.
I have 512 MB of RAM and I have no trouble at all playing BF2 or SF

thank you. if someone could pst the min requarment for ram, that would be nice.the_ubernoob_ wrote:

And it does take a whle to swich over from bf2 to sf. when i put in the sf disk i usually dont want to wait 5 min to get a normal bf2 map up.
Just leave the SF disk in. It can run BF2 and SF. (I'm sure some lurker out there didn't already know that)
I'm not certain but I believe that 512 MB is the minimum
I'm not certain but I believe that 512 MB is the minimum
It is.
So lets break this down:
-start BF2, put in user name, password
-go to Server Menu
-update server menu
-select servers with the lowest ping
-find server you want but realize you want to play Warlord instead
-exit out of BF2
-Go to desktop and wait for BF2 to unload from memory
-Start SF
-go to Server Menu
-update server
-select server you were looking for in BF2 for find another Warlord Server
This can take between 3 minutes to 10 minutes depending on system setup and thats if you find that server again.
Oh give me a break!! Come one people Vote!!!
This is important stuff here...

we should petition ea to put sf and vanilla into one rotation. and put the sf unlocks into sf. how obvious should that have been?
i am, they are allowing us to submit questions to Dice directly. That's why its important to vote! I want to reference this for consideration!

all maps BF2, SF and EF should be playable on basic BF2.
Infantry only severs (If ranked) break the ROE;ECH wrote:

§1.5 Server administrators may not explicitly or implicitly (by actions) enforce restrictions on vehicles or weapons that players can use while on your server (e.g. knives only, aircraft prohibited except for clan members, etc.)

He means basically ones that don't have planes. And yes this is a great idea.
Umm, for starters, SF is a very different game, a very big mod if you will.
I agree, it would be nice to have all of the popular maps available on one server
It takes less than 20 seconds to switch to SF by going to communities and switching to the mod, this is on my AVERAGE machine, which has: A64 3500+, 1 gig of RAM, 6600GT.
If your machine is not up to scratch then whose fault is that?
You probably want a single gaming PC standard, one that would never change, but that would be stupid, fuck progress just so they don't have to upgrade, it just takes a well chosen system to make upgrading inexpensive.
Screw it, there is a single gaming PC standard, buy yourself a 386 with 1 MB of RAM and play DOOM on high video settings.

How are all SF maps not city maps?? :?
as far as the votes you want. I am for the Vannila/SF hybrid server idea. (and the SF unlocks in SF idea)
I will admit that I want more RAM...But aside from the annoying "verifying client data" (ITS DONE LOADING!!! JUST LET ME PLAY NOW!!) I have no trouble once the game begins.
And a tip for anyone who has trouble finding a sever once they stumbled upon it in the sever browser...write down the server's IP.
