What the hell is Ping?
the ping is the amount of time it takes for a packet of information to go from your computer to the server. the lower the ping the better.
basically, the closer you live to the servers IP, the lower your ping, which usually means less lag
not always if everyone has high ping one time i had like 700 and i was running great

One time i was playing on a server with 2000+ in ping i hade like 22 and everybody else hade like 200-300+ and it didnt lag at all. But every one else seemed to have lag. I used this to my advantage and got a gold medal. I know it's very wrng to do that. but i couldt resist that time. sorry.
Not sure if it does it with BF2, but BF1942 and BFV certainly rounded off all the last number of 3 digit pings whilst ingame.

You just used their stupidity against them.
I was on a server last night where they automatically dumped anyone with a ping higher than 300. I looked at mine, it was 325 and sure as said, I was booted. I tried the same server, checked my ping and it was 330, so I didn't wait to be booted, I left.
I heard that if your ping is high it can affect other players... I have no idea if this is true.

that post was cleaned up by the Mods..rest of it had my guts and entrails all over for spreading rumours like that..and last nite on a local ranked server, the Mods were proven right.. i played on a server with 90% of players (mine was 14) under 50ping..and it lagged. everyone was bitching and moaning. so, there you go..thinner44 wrote:

I've been on servers where I've been kicked for a ping higher than 100. My average ping was 110, and was kicked. THAT is ridiculous!
