That is, if you feel that spending 300-400 hours in a vehicle is just absurd to get the rank, and that this system is simply a way to get people to play more and more, then vote yes.  If you think that it is a fair system meant to extremely limit the nubmer of generals in the ranks, then vote no.  Please also post your opinions here.

Personally I feel that the requirements are ridiculous.  I have only ever seen one person who has just one expert vehicle badge.

The highest ranking officer should be the most dedicated so I dont have a prob with the time. All this best rank on points is rubbish. Let skill be the factor. Let the best soldier win!

i think it should be that BG should be like all expert classes and have something like MG or LTG require the vehicles

I do agree with you, arson, on that, but I feel that even a lowering to simply veteran vehicle badges would do it.  As it is, it won't be a contest of skill, it'll be how long can you circle aimlessly in a jet or chopper, or how long can you sit in an RIB in one round.  It's the hours that bother me.  400 and 300 hours seems a bit much.

Sorry m8, but sitting 300+ hours in a vehicle does not take skill. It takes life.

I have no problem with it, It should be next to impossible to get. Cause lets all face it if you just play for Classes your not going to really be into the game

Here's some food for thought: the helicoptor, aviator, and armor MEDALS don't even require that many hours.

I would be fine with it if it were actually possible for people to obtain it without having to go AFK in vehicles for long periods of time before 180k

I think high ranking officers should be experts in weapons not vehicles. ive noticed alot of the top 10 don't have expert knife/pistol. yea u should atleast b vet in vehicle but make em have expert knife/pistol/ground defence/explosives and classes.

Well, if the requirements to get to any general rank is absurd, do you also believe that there should just be a huge number of generals? I personally think that the requirements to get to the first general rank should be all golds in everything, and each progressive general rank should be something else entirely. Something based on an entirely new stat that actually values how well you play, and not how long you've played. The entire rank system, medal system and badge system are trash, mainly because it's all just based on how long you've played, not how well you play. I think badge requirements for some of the lower ranks are fine, as eventually everyone should be able to achieve them, but I think the highest ranks, specifically the general ranks should be limited to the best players. Currently, there is no system of determining who are actually good players, as opposed to who has just played the most. There needs to be, and the general ranks should require you to be a good player, not just a dedicated player.

But if you consider the system as it is now, I think the requirements are fair. We shouldn't have 50+ generals in the game, it should only be a small handful of the best players. And by best, I do NOT mean the people who have played the most and whored the medic class the most.

I think the requirements are kinda stupid. Looking at the hours the top guys have put in....... I doubt anybody is going to get Brigadier General, just because they'll have easily exceeded 200,000 points before they make the vehicle requirements.

THe guys with high SPM's aren't going to stand a chance of getting this rank..... the only way you can acchieve Brigadier General is if you make sure you've got a SPM of less than 2 or so, and unless you're REALLY crap....nobody's going to have a SPM of less than 2 if they're whoring vehicles for all those hours.

They need to rethink it.... if they lower the hour requirments and maybe increase the Kills I.A.R. requirement, it'd reward the skillful players more, instead of the guys that play a lot.

I think it should be much much harder to get it. 200,000 points is a very low barrier. I expected to see a brig gen at 250,000, a mj.gen at 350,000 and a lt.gen at 450,000

its a general, a f***ing GENERAL...

and a "you must have all expert badges to get into the general sphere" sounds very fair...

I think they should switch the two lower general ranks, so that the lower one requires all expert kit badges, and the higher one all expert vehicle badges. That would make more sense in terms of time required vs difficulty of the rank.

Yeah I dont have a problem with the expert badge reqs, it's just that NO ONE will ever get them all before 180k

Generals are arguably the best of the best in any branch. to be the best of the best you have to beat the best and have the best. Lowering anything makes it easier for 10 year olds that play 8 hrs a day to achieve a *fake* award that should still be reserved for the top players in the bf2 community

The problem I have with the system is that once someone gets the rank of general, they will immedietly get LT. General because they would have so many points. I think the requirements for Brig. General and Maj. General should be switched and the requirments for Lt. General should be increased to something like 1000 points, which shouldn't be too hard after all the other badges.

Unless they really, really suck, or consciously pad their time in vehicles without getting points.

I agree.
grrr

By the time anyone gets all the expert vehicule badges, it is almost a given that they will have all the combat WAY before.

the requirement should be expert combat badges PLUS expert command for BG and expert vehicule badges and expert explosives for G.

You will notice that basic combat badges are required long before basic vehicules.

In theory yes what you're saying does make sense, however look at it this way:  Having 50 or so generals is about right considering there are some thousands of players total.
