I have some ideas for things I'd love to see in a Battlefield game. I won't say Battlefield 2 per say, because BF2 is FUBARed as it is and is far beyond repair. Lets say for the sake of discussion we're talking about Battlefield 3. I do like a lot of the ideas I've seen posted so far, and what some of them reminded me of is the game for the Playstation 2 called Mercenaries. Not sure if any of you have played it, but those who have know what I'm talking know there are a lot of cool things in that game.
I think a laser-designated sniper system would be awesome for laser-guided bomb strikes. I think the tools available to the commander in BF2 is weak and the constant unaccurate artillery barrages at spawn points is more of a neusance than a real strategic tool.
If you all have your original Battlefield 2 box, you'll notice one of the features advertised on the back is "Fully destructable environments"....hmmmm...really? The game needs a sense of physics. Case in point. When I'm driving an Abrams battle tank going 30 miles an hour and the side of my tank hooks onto a wooden plank protruding from a rickety street-side produce stand, it should not bring my tank to a dead stop. Instead I should be able to drive through the rickety street-side produce stand and through the building behind it and come out on the other side. When a plane drops a full load of bombs onto a guard tower, there should be no more tower.
Timed explosive charges would be a good idea in my opinion for the Spec Ops guys. Similar to C4, maybe even exactly like C4, just without the triggering mechanism and a 15 second delay.
Not sure if this next idea would be possible, but it would be fun to see and its only a thought. A suicide bomber kit which includes a backpack filled with Semtex, a pair of Jihad Jeans, and a "What would Allah do" T-shirt. Can you just see it? A group of disgruntled Jihadi's charging a tank while screaming Allahua Akbar just as they depress the detonator.
This next one falls under the category of the physics, but vehicle damage would be nice. Its rediculous to see a shoulder-fired missile make a direct hit on a Vodnik only to cause some smoke coming out the back. I'm talking flat tires on vehicles if they are shot or hit with shrapnel and dislodged or damaged tank treads if they are hit with an RPG or AT Rocket. I can see all the tank whores screaming when their treads get blown off as they can't move from their cozy spawn camping positions. Its also logical that when you get some of the tires flattened on a humvee or vodnik or get the engine shot at that the vehicle would not perform as it did stock. That includes fishtailing, slow acceleration in damaged vehicles or even disabled vehicles that do not explode right away and vanish to nothing.
Another neat idea I had would be using spy kits. When using the spy kit, your uniform would look exactly like the enemy's. Your name tag would even blend in with theirs. You can report to your team mates and commander about enemy activities and maybe able to steal health and ammo kits. You would not be able to kill anyone however. Just an idea...
I'm sure I've got more ideas, but this is all I can think of for now.
