1.  There is no such thing...
2.  If for some god forsaken reason you got one, there is no way in hell you are actually getting 2g(igabits)
3.  It will go away, and it isnt the patch...
4.  Give it time, there are diagnostic tools in the game that should sort it out.

thats some funny shit, yet so true...
I had aol years back, learned my lesson, the hard way.

pokerplaya's sig

Australians get fined for not voting\Americans get George Bush for not voting

and that had me lmfao, again very funny and the scary thing,so fuckin' true...

on another note:
pb_sleep 500 (this will make punkbuster do its thing every 500 seconds instead of every 20 seconds which creats most of the lag)

Then type in..
pb_writecfg (this will save it to you BF2 files so you dont have to type it in the game again)

will doing this cause any modification errors or pb kicks?
I want to do it,yet dont want to alter anything that may bring me future problems...

Try turning EAX off. Friend was getting monster lag spikes on his connection when playing on GameArena and Internode, but not on Gamespace. Diagnosed that it wasn't his connection or router becuase my PC ran fine on it, managed to find a random thread on a random forum saying it was EAX.

Sure enough, clean as a whistle now.

I have a fix that worked for me. I had been running fine then all of a sudden "your connection to the server has been lost" started happening. Sometimes I could play for 5 minutes before getting it. It's been 8 days reading forums and trying everything with no luck. Single Player worked fine but anything multiplayer disconnected, be it punkbuster or non punkbuster.

So late one night I'm staring at my task manager wondering what it could be. I noticed the process msmsgs.exe was running. Hmm. I thought I disabled that. I never use IM and wouldn't because of the security hole. I have also looked at this file already because I know it is an indicator of some virus strains. It checked out ok as an authentic MS file. It also didn't come up in my fifteen spyware scanners.

So I ended the process, tried the game, got in, played about 8 minutes and lost connection. Went back to desktop and there it was again. msmsgs.exe

I looked around and found a new app called security task maganer. I used that to quarantene the process. Ran the game for about 15 minutes and thought this might be it so I went to bed.

I found this thing today that will just flat out remove the darn msmsgs.exe process for good. Goto Start-->Run and paste this in the command line.

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Problem solved for me. Now I'm running max resolution, high settings and even AA at 6X without a hint of lag.

I hope it helps someone else out there, I couldn't find it as a fix anywhere, maybe some nice Admin can move this post to a sticky dealing with everthing else that causes connection lost. This would be fix # 979 on the list of stuff that causes "your connection to the server has been lost" messages

I had the same problem. Very annoying when you are flying something.

The problem is in the wireless. Since I connected a cable to the very same (wireless) router, the things got all smooth. You might wanna try that. I know it's not what you've expected when you went for a wireless connection, but that's what it takes to play the game.
most wireless routers allow u to optimize the transmit speeds and what not, but u have to know what ur doing. it usually found in the advanced areas.

Another 1, while in the game press ctrl+alt+del this will take you to the task manager, then click on processes in the task bar right click on bf2 program hover over set priority and set bf2 to run above normal this will channel more of the RAM to BF2 which will make it run smoother ....But NEVER select it to run on high this will channel to much ram to the game and not enough to windows explorer...unless ya got 3gig of RAM

nope got it all wrong, it has to do with the new 1.2 patch yes most because the punkbuster has been upgraded and it checks your connection every 20 seconds for some stupid reason, but there is a setting you can type into the command promt in game to where it checks it only every 500 seconds. IM me ill let you know how(P.S. it is completly legal and you wont get in trouble for it ok) Im just at work and dont have the settings here and it will improve game play greatly..promise

actually i installed the 1.21 patch and now i get the video lag spikes again!!! i tried to use the commands pb_sleep 500 but it didn't help!  I ping around 20 to 50 and i never goes above that even during these lag spikes!  I notice my fps will drop to 15 when i get this video lag.

Any one have any ideas?

is is the patch b/c i never had this problem before 1.2 and 1.21!?

is there a command to max out my fps ?

i run it on :
Intel 3.0G on an intel Motherboard and a cooling system
Nvideo 6800 GT OC
480w Antec Blue power supply
2 Gigs of Ram

is it effecting your performance eg; stuttering in game or major lag, or are you just worried that your fps is low ingame?  reason Im asking is my game runs smoothly even on a server that I get 230 ping but no matter what I get a max of 30 fps I know its low but everything still looks great and I have a 6600gt graph card

The video lag can be considered stuttering, and YES it F$%'s my game up bigtime!!  but i just notice that my fps will be at 80 to 90 and then when i get this major stuttering/video lag it drops down to 15-20!  And my ping is always low!

The "Problem with your Connection" issue is something I have been dealing with for quite some time now. I thought perhaps it was my ISP that was doing it but the more I looked for another explanation the more I see that many people are having this very issue. The solution for at least some of this issue I have found are the following:

1. Punkbuster is screwing with your connection and induces lag. The solution has already been stated above.

Join a server and while in the game on the map press the ~ key. This can be achieved by pressing Shift ` which is right to the left of the "1". This will bring up the ingame console.

Then type  pb_sleep 500
After which type  pb_writecfg

Recently I did this and payed close attention to the answer message for pb_writecfg. It says the command doesn't work correctly. Are we certain that this command actually works and actually saves the pb_sleep 500 command request?

2. Next there was an issue with the Audio dll file for BF2. Another person suggested this on the forum and in the IRC chat for BF2S so I did it and it has worked wonders for my connection issues.

Goto this site: http://www.openal.org/downloads.html

Windows:
    * OpenAL 1.1 Installer for Windows  <--- download this

Run the OpenALwEAX.exe file. It will replace the openal32.dll file for Windows.
It can be found here:   C:\Windows\System32\openal32.dll
Copy the openal32.dll file into your BF2 directory.
Now find this file:  C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2OpenAL.dll
Rename BF2OpenAL.dll to BF2OpenAL.dll_old   or something like that.
Now rename the openal32.dll file you just copied into that directory to  BF2OpenAL.dll

You should now notice an improvement in gameplay with less stutter and lag issue as well as less problem with your connection issues. They don't go away completely but it does help.

In another observation I've noticed that servers have a lot more people on them with 200+ ping times. As many of us in the FPS community know, players with high pings will slow everything down on the server. I am seeing more and more people with 200+ pings while playing on servers. I have a concern that these people are actually causing a lot of the lag spike issues and jitter in the game. Just my own personal observation.
I wish more admins on servers would set the flag on punkbuster to auto kick anyone that has a 200+ ping for a minute or more consistantly.

I hope this helps everyone.

Cheers.

There is no one key you can press to see your Frames Per Second (FPS)

What you have to do is press the ~ key.  (Shift `) which is to the left of the "1" key.
At the command prompt type this:
renderer.drawfps 1

To exit from the command console press ~ again.

now in the top left hand corner you will see your FPS.
I believe the number on the left is your FPS. I'm not quite certain what the number on the right is.

Anyone know what these two number mean in detail?
They look like this:  XX.XX/XX.XX
