I know what you are thinking....

"USE THE SEARCH STUPID NOOB!!!!! THERE ARE 50000 DIFFERENT THREADS ABOUT HOW THE M95 SHOULD BE BETTER!!!!!!!"

But unlike those 50000 differnt threads, I have an idea other than "Lets make the M95 kill with one shot" or "Lets add bleeding damage/crawling effect"

I am proposing the the M95 deal more damage to map assets.

I believe that the M95 should be able to destroy a UAV with 1-2 direct hits.

I could also see the M95 being capable of destroying Stinger/IGLA sites and TOW sites with a handful of shots.

(Perhaps the UAV trailer and sattelite dish would be vunerable to a clip or two of M95 rounds)

---------------------

With the exception of the destruction of commander assests; none of the specific damage buffs would directly affect the score of a sniper using the M95 (you don't get points for killing UAVs or empty SAM sites)

I think that being able to destroy stationary assests would give the M95 a strategic purpose ingame as an Anti-Material sniper rifle.

So....what does everyone think about this?

thats a really good idea.  I agree with d4rkph03n1x, make it so that like 4 or 5 shots takes down an attack chopper.

We can't make it too easy to kill choppers (people still need to go for the brag right earning headshot )

There is a fine line between too little damage to vehicles and too much (and we all know EA/DICE needs glasses and has trouble balancing stuff)

I would like to kill choppers with my M95, but I still like the satisfaction of hitting the pilot in the head and watching the chopper spiral out of control into the nearest building.

I dont play sniper, but I agree the gun should do more damage to assets, I mean isnt the thing able to blow whole in engine blocks of trucks from like miles away or something silly like that in RL?

it's a 50 cal, it's not powerful enough
50 cal, cut you in half, blow up jeeps, effective range 1500m?
they should either take it out, or beef it up
there should be a helicopter hit box, ie. hit it in the engine, and BOOM
but then that would make the game crappy, so nvm

The primary reason the M95 was invented was to take out wheeled and lightly armored vehicles.  the .50 cal is so unbelievably powerful

The have adjusted the M95 round slightly more against vehicles, and with the decreased chopper hitpoints, you can definitely tell you are damaging a vehicle.  They should beef it up another 10-15% more agains vehicles, but not too much or it will unbalance it then IMHO.  They should definitely do damage against the assests, at least the UAV and SAT scan, perhaps 2-3 clips worth, that way we will also see more engineers on the field to fix that crap.

considering the M95 could easily shoot through my car, lengthwise, it should be adjusted for material damage. anyone who has seen this rifle, or atleast the caliber, in use know how incredibly powerful it is. At an army exercise in Norway winter 2004, we we're shown its full potential. It was an M107 rifle, but a .50 caliber bullet. It broke-through and destroyed a brick wall and just the air pressure of the impact messed up the target-dolls beyond recognition.
In fact, this is the description of it from the producer: The primary mission of this rifle is to engage and defeat materiel targets at extended ranges to include parked aircraft; command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (C4I) sites; radar sites; ammunition; petroleum, oil and lubricants; and various other thin skinned (lightly armored) materiel targets out to 2000 meters.

So lets make it more realistic as patch 1.2 was meant to do (???) and give material damage to the m95 rifle!

I tried sniping a teammate out of our Cobra at point blank range. You can't do this to team assets?

I support this, great idea... Somebody use a mod tool to test the idea out?
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

I would love it if like a hit in a certain region of the chopper meant you damaged the engine and disabled it. Or for example, if you hit the boat's engine with the M95, you disable it. Not necessarily destroy it, but just render it useless. Then only an engineer could repair the boat. For the chopper, you'd have to bail out, or land the chopper without the motor. Then an engineer could fix the chopper.

For vehicles same thing, hit the engine block, disable the vehicle. Of course these would be hard shots, but it'd be sweet to do.

Or how about they don’t change anything else, in fact how about they revert back to before ANY patch was released before they started changing things. Now there’s an idea...

But there hasn’t been a single good change in any patch, they just create more bugs and ruin more things…

@Kobra

Wow... Now we split ways... Do you remember the days that the most lethal thing in the whole game was... a slow moving target.

I remember vividly being run over by a supply crate sliding slowly down a hill, while I ran (not crouch not prone) by the bloody box.

But I do agree that of all the "real" bugs, I haven't seen a lot of improvement...

It should be more powerful no doubt.  How bout you increase the damage, but lower the accuracy?

4 or 5 shots to take out a chopper? Please...everybody would just be lying around the wilderness with their .50's, waiting to take out choppers. It should be evident that balance is more important than total realism, though I do think that .50's should take out transport boats and buggies with little to no difficulty.

Or EA can release a map with deployed XM109's in a few odd places as ground defense.

GOT MEX HAS THE RIGHT IDEAR! Be able to destroy engine blocks so that an engineer would have to fix it.

The '95 should do more damage to thinks like helicopter and jet engines. If I shoot it in the engine it should destory the plane, maybe two shots to the engine for balance issues. As for the commander assets, maybe three shots would be a good balance too. A little area dependant damage on transports would be nice too, if i shoot the engine of a HMMWVV it should blow up.
