Coldplay are awesome. Like them very much. Have Parachutes and X&Y on my iPod. However, modern equivilant of Pink Floyd? No fucking way man! Pink Floyd experimented with weird and new sounds. They were the Mad Scientists of Music. Coldplay have found a sound that fits them and stuck to it. That in no way makes them the new Pink Floyd.

I'm not a Coldplay fan, okay, I'm more suited to harder stuff, but simply saying that Coldplay suck, is a true sign that you have no taste in music, or have no musicality or both. Their music is great, it is, like Beorn_23_7 said, a nice change of pace. Not amazing like some would have you believe, but it definatly has it's merits.

I think the thing is, and why they are seemingly so hated by people who like to think they're tough, is because they are overrated. I know of musicians far more talented with better music who will never be as famous as Coldplay, and that's where the bitterness comes from. Coldplay are seen to be currently, (and shockingly,) the best band in the world at the moment. I know I disagree, but we must cope with it because it is modern music that 40+ year old women find themselves relating to.

You Cant dismiss other peoples opinions likee that man,

They whiny voice really gets to me - if they had a different singer i might get into them, but chris martin just kills them for me. (and the fact he gets to shag Gwenyth probably has a bit to do with it )

I dont like Shihad much amymore either- just really drifted off it used to be quite the fan. I do rate the Feelers way over coldplay tho - probably as you were saying lots of bands that arent as well known have more to offer.

Boring, depressing & repetitive. I <i>can</i> see the appeal but their new Album does nothing for me, the fact that "Speed of Sound" has an almost identical beggining to "Clocks" on their previous album (just minus a few notes) really shows me that 1) they are running out of ideas and 2) should they release a 3rd album, it wont be anything special. I should be ranting about them like all other British people do, but, I really do hate them with a passion.
