I use to use claymores a little because teammates couldnt figure out that the red skull wasnt a powerup and now since it doesnt damage teammates its awesome!!. On wake and airbase is our last flag, kept placing claymores around the building near the flag, i would get shot but 3 guys would die from a single claymore, kept doing that and i got my Vet exp badge, now i hope it updates because my stats havent been updating in awhile : (

My teammate TKed himself on my claymore. D'OH! And it was in the MIDDLE OF A DOORWAY!! Plainly visible. rant cut short....
except when a dead body trips one off killing 10 teammates
Lol have you had some of those moments too 'WTF I thought 1.2 fixed that... bugger... sorry guys 'stryyker wrote:

Got my veteran explosives with claymores the other day, took out 4 people simultaneously with a single claymore at one points, I was rolling on the floor laughing for ages
They should make the claymore blow up and kill the enemy but not be able o tk you. that way you still have to look out for them but its your fault if you get killed. then it wouldnt be so easy to drop them and be guaranteed of a kill or 4
These new claymore's is the number one most retarted thing, that ea and dice could have possibly done... Look i know you're team mates are retarted, but that makes it to were you gotta place claymore's somewere were you're team wont walk... But now you got claymore's anywhere and everywere... These new claymores must have a computer microchip inside of them that detects friendlys and only attacks the enemy, be careful how much you use these new claymore's you are costing you're government atleast 1 million dollars per claymore... i don't understand why ea wont let a grenade blow up the claymore, what the hell is with that? what you suppose to do if you see it?
Personally i enjoy a realistic game were you're teammates can do stupid things, if they wanted to solve this problem all they had to do was take 2 points away from the person who laid down the claymore and 2 points away from the person who ran into it.
If ea wants to create a fantasy game, i could use a city size force field maybe some lazer beams, at this rate we are waiting for patch 379.48 the release of the super man technique and invincible mode, ea's official rules of engagment will be, No moving around on the map you can't stand up laying down is only allowed, no longer is artillery available cause it angers the noobs, if you pull out you're gun you will have you're stats reset.
So i know ea/dice realizes they messed up, but even in the next patch it says, only 2 claymores will be allowed, turn the claymores back the way they were they were fine, i never had a problem with them.
I wont mention the new mines, even though those were fine as well.
I use to enjoy being a sniper, it was very nice, but now all i see is these noobs running around with there million dollar claymore's...

The other day I decided to see just how good claymores really were in the new patch... So I went sniper and used nothing but claymores. I ended the round with 25 kills... and i never even left the tv station. Something is very wrong.
true^ its kind of weird 2 that u cant blow up mines with nades.
I still hardly place claymores down though. love placing them in the alley near hotel in kark

Speak for yourself, I always have to play a tedious game of "is the friendly Claymore going to blow?" Sometimes they don't and sometimes they do which is an annoyance for all. I always test my Claymores first by running in front of them to see if I die. When no, It's all good but when yes I feel like a fucking idiot.
Has anyone else found that some friendly Claymores blow and others don't? I feel like I'm the only one.

Ah hell yeah plz make claymores (which have killed over 1100 US soldiers as IED's ((improvised explosive device)) in Iraq kinda MUCH MORE deadly in reallife) look like little presents so enemy thinks its christmas!
and dont forget the support guns because i dont hit shit with it!
and finnaly call the game quake3!"

Just my two cents... has anyone noticed that they just missed again with the patch. I mean, the non-friendly killing claymore is not only pretty ridiculous in theory (see the above post about the billion dollar smart claymore that can detect friend or foe), but since the patch all of the really great close quarters combat in Special Forces has been RUINED.
You can't go into the palace or TV station now in warloard because its a claymore fest, and I've even noticed that Iron Gator has become rather stupid for the same reason. I don't understand why they didn't just take the next LOGICAL step and have it so you can still be killed triping a clay, but you just don't lose the points for it if one of yours Tks someone. I mean come on, it had to have crossed SOMEONE'S mind.
I also don't get the fact that they are indestructable. It never kills friendlies and can only be removed from behind by an enemy engineer??? Its a little over the top. I almost always play sniper, and I hate these changes. Everything else about the patch is gravy though.

I both agree and disagree with you guys.
I have been playing sniper quite a lot (fav. class) and before the patch I was always scared about placing claymores anywhere...
Before 1.2, I developed the following strategy to avoid a LOT of TKs and punishments from idiots walking on my claymores:
1) deploy claymore around me only when needed:
*if caping a flag alone, I would deploy them so that they give me a chance to take out ennemy infantery (giving me some more seconds to cap the flag)
* While hiding on a spot, to cover my back.
2) very important...when I leave the place, use a nade to detonate the device before one of my teammates do...
In some way the patch helps, because I do no longer have to care about stupid teammates triggering my claymores. Once I even saw one of them standing about 5 secs staring at it (like, 'eh what is this funny thing ?') and then run in front of it (eventually leading to a TK/punishment...:0)
Also I usually place mines so that they are 'invisible' (typically around a corner or in a bush or high grass) because it just seems right to do so. Even on the top of ladders, I usually place it so that an ennemy does not see the mine at once, and feels confident to climb all the way up...and BOOM :-).
I find it more fun, but also more risky (tks raining)
On the other hand, I agree that it is not really realistic (even if it's only a game).
So If I had something to say about a 1.3 patch, I would ask for:
1) revert the claymore/mines as it was before 1.2
2) Do not give minus points when a mate detonate a claymore/mine (after all they knew where they were facing- you know, the red skull!). No punishment either.
3) To be able to pick up the devices, when not needed anymore, would have been nice also as snipers always have to be on the move and only have 2 claymores. Could be interesting to plant mines on a spot, take them with you when you leave, and place them on a new spot...

Yes, and amen! Claymores are for retards now! If someone placed a claymore near a friendly spawnpoint, they deserve the punish. You spawn, enemys shooting at you, you run for cover: boom, tk`d by a claymore! Anyway: it`s the cowards/n00bs way of getting way to cheap flagdefends and kills. The claymores are in my opinion ment for protecting the snipers from attacks from behind. Feks on top of the ladder. And when you leave to find a new spot, you blow it up!Alcyons wrote:

Defend a flag with it? STUPID! What are c4 about really?
Half the kills on maps like sharqi and strike are claymorekills now for crying out. Is this balance you say? Grow a brain... The tv staion at sharqi? If you see the claymore there, you cant pass! Its like a freagging wall! Are you gonna call for a medic or an engineer? You cant blow up that stupid shit, is that realistic? What? The only way to remove a claymore is to deploy that motherfucker with your feet and get killed?

AND the loss of the ability to disable claymores now is simply retarded. To cap TV station on sharqi requires:
1 x Crash Dummy
5 x Medics to revive him again and again as he throws himself against the claymores to clear out the area.

This has been my experience. It's been hit or miss, but sometimes I forget that they can blow up sometimes and it sucks when that happens...Tyferra wrote:

Hmmm. somehow my claymores blow up teammates....
Anyway, to avoid TKs i do this: deploy claymores ONLY if I have been recognized and being shot at! I run away but leave a little present for them! it works 8 out of 10 times!

u know what im pissed off about, bak in the days...( when i was newer to bf2(shut up guys we were all new at one time)) i used to be spec forces all the time, and
Ya its nice to not get killed by somone that doesnt know how to place MINES or CLAYMORES because people would and still put them in the worst places and if they make it were it tks u agian I think that would suck.
You know what and how to rid claymores?? Use more Engineers besides in a dang tank. You gotta go from the side or back to wrench them out. Personally you need points for doing that for engineer. You know how to get rid of mines... An Engineer. EA/Dice wanted or tried to get the Engineer more love, but still there is none but in a tank, true thats where he should be, but when 4 engys going for ONE tank, what are the other 3 doing but flying kites waiting for the next one to queue up? In CQC use the Engineer, he doesn't have much but can rid clays/mines pretty quick and the MP7 is ... crap... but better than a shotty at long distances and powerful in close quarters.
Fix is easy, turn on FF again, let people blow them up with nades etc and allow you (and only you) to pick up your own claymores (like they said they were going to in the first feckin place)
That way you can at least pick up your clays again when you see some visually impaired fucktard going for his special 1337 red skull powerup

true... they did say that didn't they... bastages That would be too easy...
claymores still kill teammates if an enemy triggers them. I love the fact that teammates no longer trigger them. It's fun watching the enemy get killed everytime they walk infront of my claymores. As to punish for tking a friend who got killed by a claymore, they generally don't punish me now as they realize what is going on. It evens up the ability of people to defend certain sites much easier than before. Before anyone assulting buildings just ran wild, shooting just as wildly. Now assulting teams actually have to work together.
Chances are, if your teammates won't walk there, the enemy won't walk there. I agree about grenades being able to blow them though.coreinflames wrote:

Friendly claymores are stupid.
Explosives dont discriminate. People should be more careful and play the game tactically.
Arena style deathmatch is doom3/quake4, not battlefield.
