Question about points...

Hi all,

Hope your all enjoying the game at the moment

I have a small question that i'm sure one of you can help me with... If you happen to leave the game in the middle of a round do you still accumilate the points and stats achieved from that round?

I.e. My PC has a habbit of suddenly giving up the ghost randomly and it was quite frustrating last night as I was doing quite well for a nice change and suddenly BANG! out we go! - Quick reboot and i'm back but usually the server has become full.

wrong, once you are in a round for 5 or more mins you get whatever points and awards you got whilst there, regardless of when you leave.

im sorry but your testing is full of holes. im right, i know im right. and i know im right as this information came direct from ea, who i think would know.

plus i tested it on 4 servers when i was put on the wiki team.

the reason it is 5 mins is so you dont join a round with 10 seconds to go and you get handed a loss without the chance to help your team win.

ok you pushed so ill tell, i have a family member who is a team leader on the help desk of ea aus game support, i aksed and he found out from all i can describe as a very reliable source.

I am certain the points are there, regardless of whether you get disconnected or play to the end of round. Otherwise my favorite victim won't show on the stats. I know, because I nailed him 6x in a tank, and had to quit the round before it ended to go to work.

Too bad I went into a server to get my Airborne patch for only 3 minutes and exited out as soon as I got it and it saved it for me... so, yea, they count.

I'm not sure about the 5 minute requirement, but I know the server saves the info after a player disconnects. It's obviously purged after the round has finished.. My proof is in the Python code. *shrug*

Well, at the end of the round, all player points/stats/awards etc are sent to EA for processing.

If you meant the Python code, have a look at the script: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\python\bf2\stats\stats.py
If you can understand programming logic, you should be able to pick up what happens. If there is something specific, just ask and I'll see if I can elaborate better.

Better yet is that if you are quick, you can restart the game and get back in the same round.

This will allow you to pick up exactly where you left off when you were sent back to desktop, I do it all the time. If you can't get back in before the round ends you simply get the points you had when you left. Has worked 100% for me.

I'm not sure of the min. time required for stats to begin being logged though. I do know that a buddy of mine was having a horrible round once and wound up getting the Purple Heart half way through. He thought if you don't end the round nothing counts. Wrong! He backed out and guess what, some shinny new bling in BFHQ was waiting for him. Funny as hell cause if he had stayed in he could of reversed it by getting a few more kills before the end of the round.

Rememeber also wins/losses still record if u joined a server for a tiny bit - u leave halfway through - if the team u were on loses (even without u being there) it will be recorded a loss.
