BF2S Forums need Tip On Ground Defence Ribbon

Dragon valley. Hill village on 32 or 64 player map use the tow to shoot tanks and apc comming from the north during the beginning of the map.

get on a nice karkand server and sit at the square as MEC and hope the US gets the hotel. Just sit on that mounted MG and mow down anybody comming from the hotel and hop to the tow when the tank/apc rolls down the road:)

The Ground Defense Ribbon is probably the easiest to get in the game. The problem is people forget that the TOW is no the only ground defense. The mounted machine gun also counts.

I would say play karkand. There are 4 key spots.

Right US Spawn. That MG lets you cover your guys as they go in and gives a pretty good view of the street. Don't forget that the MG shoots through that tin fence.

Square. grab the MG at the square and it lets you cover most guys that make a run from the hotel. Also, you can use the TOW at the square to snag easy tank kills.

The Market TOW and MG. Use the TOW on tanks coming down the ramp or from the side. You can use the MG to spawn camp the enemy side as well.

This is the best spot, the Train Accident. The MG lets you shoot people capping the flag and people coming from the Market spawn. The TOW allows you to kill vehicles coming from just about all angles, especially down the ramp. I always get tank kills there since you can see the tread.

that sounds great guys, you think that if im commander and hold out a knife the entire game while calling arty on enemy troops will get me that badge too? and same with pistol.?

if you're having so much trouble with this why don't you just be a commander on it. it may be the cheap way but if you haven't gotten it yet it seems you might be having too much trouble for that ribbon.

This WILL NOT work! This ONLY works for the Kit badges (Medic Combat, AT combat, Spec Ops Combat, etc). For vehicles, it HAS to say you killed the guy with either the TOW or Mounted MG. Even if you use the Tow on a vodnik with 5 people, but 1 of the 5 jumped out and it reads:

P1[HJ-8]P4
P1[HJ-8]P5
P1[Vodnik]P6

It ONLY counts a 4 kills, not 5 with ground defence. It HAS to say the name of the weaponused for any of the vehicles, knifes, pistols, and explosives (C4, Mine, Claymore).

aka unlucky. i got my ground defense commanding on oman cuz i hate wasting rounds trying the whole time to get a single award so i got it in the first minutes of the round. all  you noobs who say you can't get it as commanders ahven't tried it. ground defense is such a worthless ribbon that it isn't even worth trying. commanding works for anyhing, helis, planes, air defense, ground defense.

I will confirm that sitting in a ground defense structure, and an AA site, as commander, and getting kills with Artillery will get you your ribbons.

I got both of mine just like that on Sharqi Peninsula, MEC Beachhouse spawnpoint. Mounted gun and AA site there.

It MAY work for ribbons, but it will 100% NOT work for badges.

go on, sharqui and get the MG at the second flag (from MEC side) and shoot all upcoming MEC soldiers, way too easy

I dont know, dont count on it actually, because you have to see ...[pistol]...

I got them rushing with a pistol in karkand, same for the knive

i got mine at karky on 32 player  at the square mg

Actually, i got mine as Commander with artillery. I was sitting in the in a Ground Defence for Ground Defence Badge. I got it but i stilled stayed inside. Then when i got 5 artillry kills, a 2nd drumroll appeared and said i got Ground Defence ribbon. And then just before the match ended (and we lost), a 3rd drum roll for Staff Officer appeared.
