Hey all,

I have a simple question of concern. Normally I play bf2 w/ my clan on our 64 man server good times and good fun. However here lately (last 2 or 3 weeks) I've noticed that not only my ping but my clans mates pings are extremely high. Normal ping for us is about 50 to 80 but it's at 120 to 170. There are some people on the server that run extremely low like 50's and better.
Of course when you lag like that and take on someone who isn't so laggy it's makes for a tough fight and higher ping is pushing up daisies.
Anyhow, I hear there are some tell tell signs a person(s) might be hacking on your server.
1. Pings are effected
2. Unusally glitches
3. Someone said something like server kicking you out or dumping to desktop alot more often than *normal*

Don't get me wrong we don't look at scores unless it is questionable. From some research I've done these hacks can't be picked up by punkbuster. So admin can you share some insight and shade some light on these griefers and help us keep our server hack free and enjoyable to the public?

I'm not a bf2 admin but servers in general that's another story.
Do you have direct access to the server is it overheating b/c of a dead case fan?
It's also quite possible you don't have a dedicated box. I've be appart of hosting where I've signed up with an ISP b/c of their 30-day no questions ask free trial.

Everything goes great, low ping high bandwidth, once 30-days has elapsed they move you to an older box. Pings go through the roof... sorry 30-days has elapsed...

Personally I don't think the hacks can affect another players bandwidth. If it could you could simply make a hack were as you come close to another person they would lag out. Either way it wouldn't be a constant.

Either :

1) Someone is or has launched a DOS (Denial of Service) type of attack on your servers IP address in an attempt to flood it with traffic to knock it offline, or to increase latency

or

2) The server itself needs to be rebooted, or the company hosting it is having bandwidth problems and/or have too many users on the same server, overloading it...
