i dont get it?....why make a squad, then lock it witth 1 person in it!!!!! i mean, even if  you DONT want people to help you, give u stuff/revieve you and many other POSITIVE things...who cares even if they just spawn off you then go on thier way....but this really pulles my chain.
a side with FULL squads is way more productive and will always win the round.
if you are one of these people...go and play with your barbie dolls cause you truely have no friends anywere you inconciderite bastards.

I sometimes do the same thing i lock the squad wen im in the tank, jet or heli mainly for uav support. Also its hard for team to join you wen your in the tank, fighter jet, or fighter choppers. I hate gettin flamed cause members of my squad cant join my location because one og my squad members dont jump of fighter heli/jet or tank so i just lock it.

me and a friend often do that, as we play mainly sniper and more often than not you get a guy spawn on you and start up with the pkm or somthing telling the enemy right where you are.

so why not just go it alone??? why use up a squad position? its not hard to find ya mates either, teamspeak/voip.. just askin! lol

really, if i cant spawn on some-one... ill change squads or just spawn somewhere else...its when some-one is in a good position and no-one can spawn to "take that back flag".

it is a shame bad experinces from tards create bad tactics(i.e.= baggin you for not being able to spawn)

hang on...if you let people in..they could issue supplies. and if your a sniper.....gettin a supplie drop for 1 person  is downright selfish.

I often like to fly a jet this way. That way the commander can tell me where to bomb and stuff and I don't have noobs joining my squad for no reason. And occasionally I'll invite my wingmate to the squad.

i have to agree with THA on this one.

a lot of times when i'm in a one seater jet or when i go sniping, i'll go as a SL and then lock the squad.  it's not good tactics to find a good sniping spot, then have 5 people spawn on you, giving away your position.

don't forget, snipers jobs arent to cap flags.  a good sniper spots vehicles, takes down infantry, and spots any infantry who get away.  a good, smart, lone sniper is almost like adding another commander to your team .

a squad leader can call in for arty, supply, or UAV support as well...things that can all help your commander.

just because someone is a lone squad leader doesn't mean that person is inconsiderate.  in fact, more often than not its quite the opposite.

I have to say that a two man squad is actually the best squad pairing.
You have your designated Squad Leader who is the sniper and then you have your support Squad Member.
This person spawns on you as Medic or Support depending on what you need. Hell if there is massive combat then maybe even as AT, Engineer or Spec Ops to plant mines, C4 or taken out vehicles that pin down the sniper Squad Leader.

IMO a 2 man squad is superior in all ways to a 1 man squad. As long as that other squad member isn't a tool and listens to instructions.

That's my 2 cents.

i agree with you kilroy0097...at least 2 is constructive...if 1 dies, the lead can be swapped and continue the position...

i cant believe that alot of people think that others will always give away your position...well hang on... maybe your right...cause no one else can see you   *cough*commander*cough* (he never spots that lone person in the hills)

the second i get hit by a sniper...kill me or not...i know exactly were he is from that lovely little red circle which appears on screen...once i know,i let others know then a wabbit huntin is'a go!..*stabbystabstab*

And how often do people ask for supplies? I rarely get a request for it once a game.

ok,so you cant request supplies without being in a squad?if you never get asked...and then someone requests it (not in a squad)..do you ignore them do you? or do you look for the player requesting (via the flashing target) and give him some. i seen some commanders dont even give it to you if you spot it constantly(thier usualy too busy flying lol)

i issue to whoever ask's..reguardless of the easy spot target or doin me homework on who requested it.

Both your screenshots show multiple squads that aren't even full. Why does it matter to you they have their own squad to request supplies and receive orders from the commander? If I'm in a jet I'll make my own squad and lock it. People joining my squad aren't going to be able to spawn on me so they should find another squad to be in. But the purpose of that would be to directly communicate with the commander over VOIP. He may like me to do a bombing run over a big group of tanks.

Most of the time people out of squad that ask for supplies are ignored. When I play commander I don't pay much attention to the chat log as I'm busy doing the things that commanders do.

Squads work just fine (we only need platoons )

I think that all ppl should be in squads! even 1 man squad ... that way commander can actually order them somewhere  + all that what ppl writed in previous posts

it gets me cause i cant count the amount of times im cappin that back flag and need support to spawn of the leader(by making a squad..then even deleting it)...but cant cause you cant make anymore squads...

some severs stuff up and only let you have 1 maybe 2/3 squads *sigh*..today was this episode(and BEFORE i left..) i noticed 1 of the only 3 squads availible was locked with one person.that was the clincher.

when it is abused.
(those screenies are just for example off the topic.)

i see now once again everyone has thier own reasons (which has opened my eyes on the matter a bit more) and how a team based game can fail amoungst strangers.like a lot of issues in this game, its frustrating to all who have thier own opinion of how things should be.
this one is my one.(hence the vent)

I feel a bit twisted aboue the whole story...
Sometimes I make a one man squad as a sniper, don´t lock it, find a good place to snipe from and yeah.... a second later I have two PKM guys spawn on me, fireing the shit out of everything around...Arrgh...So the problem is NOT the locked one man squad, it´s the smartness of the people spawning on you. If they would spawn, sneek away from you, and directly attack the area I´m looking at, it would be no problem...
So if I make an experience like that in a round...LOCK ! Very simple...

I'll lock a 1 man sqaud if I'm flying a single seat jet, or a 2 man squad if we are flying the attack chopper or 2 seat fighter/bomber.  Nothing annoys me more than joining a squad only to find to the guy is flying and not issuing orders or passing on supply requests because he's flying.  It's also annoying to not be able to spawn on him cause he's flying.  When I'm flying I don't worry too much about supplies, arty, or uav's, but I will bomb targets designated by the commander.  I wish more flying squad(s) and squad leader(s) would do that when I'm commanding.  I don't issue to many orders to squad leaders flying because they are usually busy dogfighting or hitting other moving targets.

If your in a squad with a squad leader who's flying don't expect a lot from me.  I'm not opposed to flying squad leaders, I just feel that they need to concentrate on flying more than leading a squad.  If you don't like the fact that either your squad leader is not leading like you think, or I as commander am ignoring your squad or squad leader, form your own squad.  Squads who take flags get the most help from me as a commander.

Okay, there are two points here:

- If you are a sniper, or sometimes spec ops, you can single-man squad, not worry about some idiota giving your position away when they spawn in on you, you can call for supplies, UAV, arty, etc.

- *However*...if you just think you are rambo, the single man squad, get over it and get some teammates. I hate it when i join a server and there are 8 squads, but not a single squad with two people in it.

once again its a shame on many levels how things cannot work for everyone.
if i spawn from a sniper in the hills...its only to sneak down to cap a flag....thats all i do.i dont want to see how many people i can shoot and if i gave away thier spot...then i couldnt spawn there again.

when i take step back and take and overall look...theres tanks(usually)shootin at tanks and being a rock at a flag.planes dogfight and BLOW THE CRAP(usually me)outta anythin on the ground(same as choppers)...and then there is infantry.they can score rides(sometimes) and run around like annoying sneaky ants in an unorganized frenzy.to me "squads" can create a strong group in the chaos...creating ANOTHER spawn point when all seems lost.
i see alot of people use this as a tactic for themselves more so than for the team.well...good on ya really, you gotta do what you gotta do(i dont mean that sarcasticly).all i ask is please be reasonable if someone asks to spawn off you if the side is losing.

....and ill personally remember to be quite lol(and of course let others know)

I sometimes lock a one-man squad if I'm waiting for my buddy or buddies to join the server (we always go around in a locked squad, because we use the mics heavily and coordinate all the time; don't want to be annoyed by random people joining our squad, giving away our posision, being annoying).

If I find out they can't come along after all then either I forget to unlock squad or I go ahead and unlock it so at least other players have a squad to join. I don't normally go squadding with people I don't know so I won't give out constant orders and won't usually request anything from comm, I'm used to squadding with my buddies and we just do our best to help our team, usually accept commander orders.

Well, thats why I might be in a locked one-man squad, anyways... I only wish that unassigned people were higher-priority to switch and balance teams than my squad members. Really annoying to be coordinating an attack and have one-two of your guys switched in the middle of the round.

Maybe he doesnt want someone chatting over squad VOIP. I'll leave a squad if people are talking and I'm not. Plus the dude is a sniper and won't have to deal with "kit orders" from the commander if he's all by himself.

I forgot to add that he prolly doesnt want dudes spawning in on him like dude said up there. I hate it when a support guy spawns on me, runs over, stands right over me and drops ammo. It's a nice gesture, but now everyone knows where the sniper is. When I'm sniper I will either create a squad or join one with only another sniper.
