Me:

Join server. *insert long ass load screen here* Look at squads. 7 squads, 4 squads have a single person in it. another has 3 people, but its locked. my choice of two squads. join first squad. no orders. ask for orders via menu. nothing. ask over VoiP if anybody else has voice. nothing. not even a "No way man" from a Pg Dn. ask if anybody can hear me. no reply. type into the squad chat "Can anybody hear me?". No reply. Not even a Pg Dn. Try to join up with squad, look at map. Squad lead is in a helicopter, somebody else is in there with him, so i cant spawn on him. other 4 teammates? try 4 different flags. not even two people *remotely* close together. OK, well, ill try the other squad. same thing.

Come on now guys, WTF? Just go play single player if you dont want teamwork. When they say its a squad based game, that doesnt mean you join a squad and work alone.

Or for fucks sake, at least *try* to communicate, once and awhile.

I hate the random battlefield 2 player. I'm all for teamwork, and these days about half of my points come from team points, but I'm damned if I can get the average player to work with me. Most of the time I'll get to an important point (like the tv station on sharqi), make a squad, shout "we need some help over here" several times, type "squad X needs backup at tv station! spawn on me!", and then sit there and wait for minutes on end while nothing happens. Once in a while I'll get some exceptional players on my team and they'll spawn, and we'll go and kick some butt and maybe change the course of the battle, but most of the time its like asking a brick for help.

If I join a squad like that, I just follow the squad leader around or just play like a lone wolf with an extra spawn point.

Yeah, join a clan or something man. Cuz pug's suck! It's amazing how if a team has just one squad working together they often win.

I know what you mean.I often jump squads to try to find a squad leader that can stay alive for 10 seconds. If I can't then I'll just start my own squad.

Many just become a squad leader so they won't get autoswitched.Being able to ask for supply drops and communicate with the commander through the VOIP is nice also. However, from a commanders standpoint it's annoying as hell dealing with 7 squads.

there's absolutely no team work in pubs.

when my "clan" joins a pub (with 8-10 people) on the same team, we absolutely destroy the other team.

teamwork blows in this game online on the internet ....the most of the players are just to scared to get autobalanced and the other just need some fucking time to add on their shitty awards they miss

This question is not to flame you, it is really curiosity from my side.

If you are all for teamwork, how exactly do you consider flying in an attack-helicopter for over 400 hrs  "teamwork".
Looks to me you only recently discovered  "teamwork" now that last patch nerved the indestructiblility of the (attack-)chopper...

Ok , i know you can work together with your gunner, but it   seems the past 6 months - until latest patch- you were up high in the sky in your indestructible chopper. Not really what i call teamwork !
Please explain how flying a chopper/jets , racking up a lot of Killpoints  -not TEAMPOINTS - is teamwork.
Did you drop ammo packs from your attack-chopper, or medic packs, or revive from 30 feets away ?

Nevermind that the guy has 3x more small arms kills than you do.

Nevermind that the guy has 4x more teampoints than you do.

And dont give me that "Hes been playing longer" crap. you have 600 hrs, he has 900.

Next time look at all the stats, and recognize a better player, instead of looking at one stat and calling "heli-whore" just because you get hit by choppers alot.

I swear, some people.....

Really,  i never said anything about he/me being a better/worse player.
And i rather use the term specialist ; Skruples is a Heli specialist IMO.
It does more credit to his efforts than calling him a "heli-whore".

Besides that, i dont mind being hit by a good pilot/gunner, be it jet or heli; my gripe was about the choppers INDESTRUCTIBILITY pre-patch.

My post was more about his play-style and preferences.

It does improve the game when your in a functional squad, and unless your a sniper you get loads more points than trying to be Rambo killing everyone, If you get a good squad leader who is willing to hold back and not get killed your squad simpy moves around flattening the enemy until you meet another squad.

There are some good teamwork players out there.  You just have to find them.  When you do, it's a treat to play the game with them.  You get lots more teamwork points, more kills, and if you get a good commander, a win as well.

Really, you should LOVE the average BF2 player !

Because of the lack of teamwork in general, its easy (for you, and then some others) to rack up kills in a tank or a chopper!
Now that the majority act like sheep , you can be the wolf !

Teamwork:
- people would spot enemy choppers or armor in time to warn teammates
- adapt their kits to take it out (AT, PKM) or all jump in AA /TOW to engage the biggest threat(chopper/tank)
- friendly jet pilots would go for enemy choppers, instead of bombing infantry for cheap kills

@ Blacksheepcannibal :
Because of the lack of teamwork, its easy to get great K-D  ratios or whatever statistics; like a shark in a among small fish. Sharks are mostly solitair hunters, they rather not have the other sharks eat all the fish...
Is a shark a "better" player ?
Maybe in terms of statistics, not necessarily in terms of teamwork.

"Real" teamwork is not rewarded in statistics in this game.
example 1.
Flying commander gets some selfish kill points before he is rightfully mutinied (or as exception to the rule ,resigns), while denying teammates those kills.
Not so for the commander who hides in shelter right from the start and does his job, and MAY get 2x ( no guarantees)
example 2.
If your friendly tank hunts the enemy tank, thats teamwork because thats what the tank is made for;
just 1 killpoint for that, if at all
If your friendly tanker AVOIDs the enemy tank/chopper  to get 10 cheap infantry kills (happens a lot on Karkand and Sharqi), thats no teamwork.

Guess what: last one here is the "better"player in terms of statistics, getting K-D ratios of 4 up to 14.
Is he really a "better" player ?
Yes in terms of (selfish) K-D ratio.
NO in terms of teamwork: protecting his infantry teammates from the onslaught of the enemy tank/chopper.

I play on a number of different servers.  Some guys just must not understand the role of the kit they use.  When I play sniper on some maps, I put claymores down for flag defense and then shout need ammo.  If I'm playing with someone who understands I want the 2 claymores in my pocket for reserve I get them.  Most of the last week though, the support guys just run off looking for people to kill with the pkm unlock.   I don't have a problem with them running off to kill the enemy or being killed is more like it.  Just leave me a couple of ammo bags.

Last night I was playing on Karkand, when the squadleader started requesting ammo.  As I had just been killed I spawned in on him as support.  I gave him ammo and tossed a couple of more for other teammates who needed it.  A tank came rolling into the area we were at.  Now the pkm is usless against it.  but thanks to me giving ammo to my squadleader, he and someone else were able to kill it.  Now I don't get a kill assist, but I got 3 ammo points instead.  1 for the initial request of my squad leader, then 1 each for him and the other guy after they killed the tank that rolled in.

If I hadn't just been killed, my squad leader would have been out of luck on ammo. But by paying attention to his request I helped our team defend a flag and reduce the number of enemy tickets.   I wasn't trying to get killed by the enemy.  I was in an APC wrecking havoc on enemy vehicles as best I could.

And yet, without a good jet or helo pilot, a team often loses. Aparently they are nothing but selfish kill whores.

I think it's wrong. Almost borders stat padding. It's fun to play as a team but if you are, go find another team to play against and stop boosting your ego beating disorganized noobs.
which is it?
