yep they are. You can plant claymores on them and turn claymores into an area mine instead of just the 45-degree angle that they damage people in.

Yes, the barrels hurt. And yes technically it's always a 45 degree angle because an enemy still has to walk in front of the claymore to set it off. Of course if someone walks in front of it while someone else is out of the angle of the explosion but not the secondary explosion of the barrel I guess you could technically say it's a 360 degree explosion. But.. who fucking cares? I always blow those barrels at the trainwreck unless I'm sure there are no enemies around. It's always nice to find someone trying to take that flag while trying to hide behind a barrel of what seems to the most caustic flammable material known to man. Saves on ammo.
