when i turn up my settings in bf2 past medium, i still get frame rates of 40-50, but sometimes when i look around side to side it's reeaaally jerky, and then sometimes the frame rate just drops suddenly to like 10 fps, and it goes back up if i look in a different direction.

so, my question to you is, when you turn up your settings on your less than perfect rig, do you just get lower average frame rates with no strange jerkiness?

or does anyone else get mostly good frame rates....but then sudden jerkiness and problems

feedback with comp specifications would be great.

btw i have a pentium 4 2.8ghz, a geforce 6800gs AGP, and like i said, 1.5 gigs of ram

When I turn my settings up...all the way....with 4X AA....I get anywhere from 70-120fps.

Sorry had to.

AMD 64 4200+ X2
7800 GTX
2 gig ram

Oh yeah, upgrade to 2 gigs, you will see a big difference in load times and performance.

With my (ugh) P4 2.4 GHz, 1 GB RAM and overclocked 256MB Radeon 9550, the game can usually handle Medium graphics with 2x AA with a decent (~30) framerate.  (When I'm looking at nothing but the sky the FPS usually doubles.)  For kicks, I cranked my graphics as high as they can go (High, 6x AA) and got an average 17 FPS, though this number sounds a hell of a lot better than it looked.  I'm not sure what triggered the laggy moments but on these graphics settings I was very often a sitting duck.  I'd be running around with a playable 25 FPS or so and suddenly go through several seconds at 1-2 FPS, during which I'd usually be spotted and killed very quickly.
