I fancy myself a weeken warrior. Its taken me from December till now to get from private to Gunnery Sgt. so thats about 8000 pts in 4 months. so you figure to get to 20k pts for first Sgt(yeah, I got the medals for it) is gonna take me another 5-6 months for that one promotion. then to get 30k pts for the promotion to SgtMjr. is about another 12-16 months (according to BF2s).

Where to go now? (not this isn't a bitch... just a.....comment. ) So for all the weekend warriors, and famly plagued players... does this discorage you at all? I certainly enjoy the stress relief of the game and the comradery on VoIP. I just think that for us 'less frequent' players..... well, the buck stops here. LOL

so flame on if you like, I'd rather like to hear from people who have less than an hour a day average of play time.

Alright, you're good to go!

Start a new account, give it some fun/potentially offensive name, type "%knife" or "%pistol" on the server search and see how outrageously quickly you can get promoted before EA takes action against you!

Seriously though, I see you're missing Basic Explosives Ordnance.  That sounds like it could be a fun project for you to get.  13 kills in a round with explosives isn't that ridiculously hard now that claymores don't (usually) get you TKs.  Combine some precision C4 chucking with carefully placed clays and you'll get it.  Try it next weekend!

i was like you, got the game when it came out but only played a little, then i started playing a little more in sept and went after some badges, then in oct i started playing a little more and ranked up a couple of times, and then by december i was playing a little bit more and near the 1st of the year i made 1st sergeant...i just made sergeant major

my point it as any given time there were moments that the peripheral achivements seemed impossible, whether it was a badge or a ribbon or a rank, but eventually they became within grasp...if you are a goal oriented player i would suggest going after all your class vet badges, 15 hours of playing time and 20 kills iar is acheivable and once you have done that you will have a pretty decent grasp of the game as a whole, and who knows you might be a 1st sergeant by then too

*edit, o' and play some special forces so you can get five more unlocks, you dont have to buy it just have someone with it log in with your name and passowrd and then play a map...

yerded,. I'm like you, after the kids and wife go down. its MY time. LOL!

Strangelove, Oh yeah, the vet badges are on my list definitally. it what keeps me goin.

and Cpt. Kefra. It sounds good. to rank up the easy ones again, but I would hate to loose what I have accomplished.

Thanks guys. its good to know that there are still some of us out there. I guess I'm just dreading that huge leap from 20k to 50k for that next rank. but also, who cares. its a game and its fun!

that long trek from 1st sergeant is nuts but it makes ranking up a major (pun intended) event, and the ranks are much closer together after that...when the night was over in which i ranked up i was already 10% into lieutenant

i had a lot of fun when i started going for my last couple class vet badges, playing medic for a week was a trip because i only had an hour or two in it up to that point

Now that i'm working more hours earning 2nd Lieutenant rank seems to be taking forever.

I can only manage about an hour a night aswell. I'm in the long gap after first sergant. I am currently trying to get all my vet badge (building up time on sniper) and the vet engineer repair badge is hard now. Must learn to fly at some time aswell.

I'm probably a Weekend Warrior too, aside from the fact that the only time I can't play BF2 is in the Weekends, I very rarely get to play it. I started playing on the second of August 2005, I now have 20,400-ish points. You do the math.

I am kind of discouraged that it's going to take double the time I have already spent, (seven months,) plus another 10,000 points, (say, an extra 3-4 months, a round total of... say eleven months,) to get to the next rank, but in the mean time, I'll just shoot guys and have fun the way the game indends.

I'm close to getting myself a new computer, so when that happens I'll probably become a Blazin.UK full time no-life BF2 player. I hope not. I'd rather be a me full time no-life BF2S writer.

I pretty much only play tuesday nights (with clan buddies) and the occasional hour when my woman is out with friends. Wish I could play a lot more but I really enjoy the gaming time I have.

Where to go now?
Suggestion:
Maybe forget about points/medals/ranks and HAVE FUN ?

Enjoy the teamwork/tactics/chat and learn from experienced players/teamleaders.
Rank does not mean much...many times I had corporals/sergeants in my squad.
They did a very good job and they had a lot of fun.

You are welcome to join one of the BF2s servers

Once the kids are in bed around 8pm I can usually get 1.5 hours/day in during the week...

I'm currently on the long road to MS, only @10000 pts. to go...... Not worried so much about points, they will come but I am having more fun with more aspects of the game.

Just recently I've switched to my knife, when I come close to the enemy, looking for a knife fight and 7 out of 10 times they see my knife out and put away their gun......it's great fun, nothing gets the heart beating faster than a good knife fight.

Do women not understand. Men need violence, they need to compete against eachother to see who has the biggest emmmm stats. If this had been 10 000 years ago we would be coming in from hunting and fighting all day and club her over the head and drag her off to the cave for some rough love. Remind her that, the next time she gives off about you playing BF2 and remind her how lucky she is. ............ then sit back and wait for the fist and/or dirty nappy to your face.  FIGHT THE POWER MEN!!!!!!!!!!

I feel your pain guys. My wife works late about two nights a week so I'll be able to get in an hour or two after work on those days. At the moment my computer is close to the bedroom so that means if I play at night I have to use headphones and no VOIP. Doesn't help that my wife hates BF2. Plus I've got a baby due any day now. I was hoping to get gunnery before the baby, but looks like I may not make it in time.... I may do what Capt Kefra suggests and try getting some other badges.... maybe explosives or ground defense. At this point for me, I use the game more as a way to relax and unwind from the day. Not as an ego booster.

Well, so I will introduce myself now as the "Lunchtime Warrior"

Mostly I play on lunchtime at the office (I'm one of the lucky few, that am aloud to put an own PC - my Gamemachine - into our company's network). We are 5 ppl at the office, taht are playin' BF2, so from time to time, we have some kind of a LAN Party on fridays evening, an fightin' till late...

I've installed BF also at home, but I playn' there very rarely. Wife, Friends, Hobby's... a life beside fightin'... a very good one...
