Hey everyone, I just found out today that there is a setting in the audio options that lets you change the voices of the characters to english, regardless if you are on MEC or PLA. So I have a small request for anyone that wants to comply. Change this setting to english ASAP!

The reason I am asking this is because I noticed that I tend to be much more helpful to my teammates when I can actually understand what they are saying. I always stop to give rides to teammates, but when I'm PLA for example, I sometimes don't hear "Hey, I need a ride!" and thus your requests go unnoticed. Now that I am all english, I hear the calls for request, and don't have to read them so I help out more.

Lots of people tell me that they don't like this because then they can't hear when an enemy is around speaking a different language, but I have a simple solution for this. If you hear a nearby voice, look for the friendly name tag, if it's not there, you got an enemy on your hands.

That's all for now, see you on the battlefield.

instead of looking for a friendly nametag, i keep my 'english only' unchecked and just read the chat.  everytime someone asks for a ride, no matter what language its in, it always says 'hey, i need a ride' in the chat.

I have the english option unchecked, I just read the side whenever someone radios. After a while you sort of get used to the Chinese and Arabic, and you can tell what they're saying without having to read.

Yea, it doesnt matter if we put english only on, If you click it you will get all english no matter what, its almost like changing your localization files (well it is), but it only changes the settings on your computer, no where else, so everyone will speak english regardless if a guy in canada has it or not.

I think he was just saying that most people don't understand the Chinese or Arabic and don't bother reading, and are thus not observant of their team's needs. By asking everyone to check the English only he was hoping people would become more helpful.

Umm.... I've got a good enough memory to know that this random phrase means 'Hey! Stop firing!' or whatever. Besides, its always useful to hear the other teams chatter, so you know they're around the corner, chucking nades, requesting a medic to heal their almost fainted body etc...

No thanks,  I would rather hear my enemy.  Comes in handy all the time.

Was in the palace on Whorelord,  was about to jump over a wall, but heard the SAS medic voice "you'll live buddy now get back in the fight "  so instead I turned a around and pitched a grenade and killed the medic and 2 other guys.

Actually now im getting used to the mec voice.   I can always hear them when they throw grenades.  Comes in handy.  Heres a question,  iver never used Eng only,  say you are on Warlord and are SAS,  would the insurgents voice be SAS or U.S?

Alright! Looks like people hated this idea and, as I should've suspected, they would rather keep the voices which are kind of cool instead of be a little bit more helpful to the team.

I've played enough so that I recognize what it says in the other languages.

This way I also know to take cover when I hear an enemy throw a grenade.

I've played long enough to know that when an Arab screams SAKAHADAMUSHED into my ear, it usually means that his torso has been splayed open by a frag grenade, and that he needs a medic to shock paddle him back to life.

Leave English only off and get used to the speech.

Then tell me...what is the direct translation of HOWIT. I keep hearing it in-game, and have heard it from an Arab lady slamming some Muslim dude on TV.

Why is the defence against English V/O "I cant tell when an enemy chucks a grenade at me."  Do you not run when there's a grenade, friendly or not?

dont really know there are like 17 different dialects of arabic each with a different pronunciation and spelling.  Im learning modern standard arabic and i dont think thats what they are speaking.  I think its cullocial (egyptian) arabic.  Some of the words they say in the game make absolutly no sense to what is supposedly being said.  But I am just begining student in arabic and the time Ive spent in the middle east and in the class isnt enough to consider me a definitive source.

Exactly. And if I hear a MEC shout KOOBOOLA, I generally know something's about to explode, and thus dive for cover. Learn the signs.
