a metre or 2? you've got be kidding me - i'm more worried when i can see a claymore nearly 10m in front of me, I stop to avoid it and die instantly$h0ck3r wrote:

Seriously! I thought i was running into another claymore that I didn't see, until it happened repeatedly.
Yeah, it's crazy. Maybe 12 feet or more, i.e. 3 meters+.
Yesterday I'm playing Sharqi as medic and I round a corner and there's a sniper about two prone body lengths from me carrying a claymore. I wax him but he manages to drop the claymore. I'm standing there stock still wondering, if I move does it trigger, or isn't that thing far enough away that it shouldn't trigger, and how long would I have to stand here before the damn thing vanishes?
I convince myself that it's far enough away, equip the medic back as a vain attempt to ward off death, and begin to walk backward directly away from the claymore. BOOM. DEAD.

lol yet another thing being moaned about, what would you like ea/dice to do?,make them so they only detect at foot level so u can just run n jump over them, lol i can see it now on great wall be like claymore hurdle olympics.
about the range part, yeah thats a little random on the distance sometimes but nothing i'd give a toss about wanting changed,bf's had enough changes i think it should be left as is for a while,im sick of one buggy patch after another so i'd be happy with things left as they are while my games still running sweet n crash free.

It's not moaning, it's a legitimate complaint. One that I happen to completely agree with, and this is coming from somone who loves to play as a sniper. When claymores start to have a range to that of a assult rifle, then there's something wrong.
Any military people...Correct me if I'm wrong, but claymores don't have any range, right?. Not unless they explode and the resulting explosion causes damage, or if they are detonated by someone upon enemy arrival. In that sense yes they do have range. That's if you wanna get technical about it, but I realize this is a video game and not everything has to be exact. That said, they should tweak the ridiculous range of claymores a wee bit.
There were times I came across a claymore that I knew would be there, each time I tried to avoid them by staying 10 or so feet away (this was while I was walking and backing away from it) but they still managed to kill. Personally, I don't really have a problem with it because I'm a sniper most of the time...but even I feel bad for placing those suckers cause of their superhuman range.

you know how big the the kill radius is of a claymore in real life, i forgot but its more than a meter or two
Oi...Jeebus. I wasn't talking about the blast/kill radius of a claymore mate. I was referring to the triggering radius. I'm very much aware of how much damage they can cause if you're within it's blast radius. Anyone with two funtioning eyes and a reasonably able mind could tell you that.
But maybe I wasn't clear on that in my previous post. If not then I apologise. So, I'll say again...I'm talking about triggering radius of claymores not the blast/kill/damage (insert any other term associated with damage) radius.

in that case I see your point. Legitimate gripe.Herackles wrote:

Real claymores are good for up to 15 meters, so if you die at 1-2 meters, then they work fine. Don't go near any if you see them.$h0ck3r wrote:

The M18 Claymore has a 50 meter killzone and u can get hurt bad if u are closer than 250 meters.
Read all about it ;-)

lol
i love it
why do people think that there should be some way to get out of every dangerous situation in the game
i seriously saw a thread posted earlier today saying "APCs need to be changed because you can't kill a tank with with one rocket"
guys, please, do you see how irrational it is to complain about the fact that you can get killed in some situations? what difference does it make if the claymore has the range it has? fuck.. does the complaining never end? you guys just whine and whine and whine and whine about every aspect of the game. any situation where a player can get easily killed.. you will see somebody whining about it. the only thing that's ridiculous is the fact that appearantly so many BF2 players don't understand that these different strengths of weapons and classes and vehicles and sometimes being unable to escape getting killed and sometimes being unable to wrack up easy points are what makes the game fun. sometimes you just gotta die. sorry!
isn't that the real issue here? what we're talking about isn't the fucking realism of any part of this game. i really thought we all had grown out of the "OH BUT THIS GUN HAS A MUSSLE VELOCITY OF ______ SO IT THE HITPOINTS IN THE GAME AREN'T QUITE RIGHT." what we're talking about here is messing with the balance of the game, and guess what - it's not fucking supposed to be balanced. that's the whole point of different guns and classes. so really, when i look at this thread the first thing i think is that as long as the claymore kills people, people will whine regardless of the range... this person literally typed "i can't even jump over it."
hey stupid - if you could get close enough to see it and you were capable of jumping over it the claymore would be a crap weapon.

I do believe that this is just a game. If you can't adjust to the current (and often changing) rules and standards, than feel free to try another game. Theirs plenty of them out there.
I usually get into a vehicle if I see a claymore and RUN lol$kelet0r wrote:

after reading all the complaints throughout this forum since bf2 came out about the games balance/unfairness blah blah blah, the only one bitch i aint come across yet is one where the players so shit at adapting to the games different elements that they start asking for the game to be changed so it has 1 gun/ kit / vehicle/ voice & everything so every nub has the same thing.
yapp, i don't understand what the people moan about. There are not many issues in my opinion. Almost everything that was a real issue to me ws fixed (too powerful helos, better AA, claymore span...oh yes, and even the last issue that sucked most for me...pkm fix). I think everything is fine now...some bugs here, so other missing features there, but it's fun to play the game.
The range of the claymore is ok in my opinion, in real life the claymore has a HUGE explosion radius in order to kill a whole infantry batalion, if it only was 10 metres...holy you could see the 2000 claymores on the ground
please stop complaining, about the classes, the weapons and other stuff. It doesn't matter what class i chose in BF2...in 80% of the games I'm among the top players. Just play appropiate, look on the radar and everything will be fine
If you are searching for a game with same units, same weapons and same same same...play Quake...or Pong

Its probably safe to say than a 15 metre trigger zone for a weapon with a possible kill zone of 50 meters is fine.
What would be the point in a weapon capable of killing someone up to 50 metres away if you needed to pass within 2 metres to detonate it.
Stop whining and play the game as it is.
Aren't engineers able to disable them anyway if they crouch as they approach. I'm sure i've seen them do it.

Engineers can only disable them from the back.
It shoots bullets out in a 60 degree angle meaning it can be defused from right outside that angle, so u can infact do it from the side, the back and a tad in the front :-)~Solar~Fire~ wrote:

lol guys i feel like i've started an arguement , if anything i think the claymore range should be lowered a tad and increase the amount a sniper can carry or summat, its just so unfair on maps such as karkand when you are attacking at USMC they just run place claymores EVERYWHERE then run off and hide sniper from a safe distance. so lame
clamores can kill u at 3m (effectivly)$h0ck3r wrote:

Wow...So many "complaints" about people complaining, kinda ironic. Hehe, I think it's fashionable now for people to bash on anyone who "dares" to question the game mechanics. Do people forget to actually read others posts in the rush to type "stop complaining" or "stop whining" or "just adapt." I'll write in caps so maybe I can forgo anyone's attention deficit disorder. WE ARE NOT TALKING AND OR COMPLAINING ABOUT BLAST RADIUS OR DAMAGE RADIUS, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT TRIGGERING RADIUS.
I personally don't have an issue with any of it...be it PKM, AA, Claymore's or anything else for that matter. I do on the other hand, feel for the people who see and try to avoid my claymore's from 10 or 12 feet away yet still manage to get killed.
