ok so i was patching 1.22 when it suddenly froze... hmmm.. i let it sit for aobut 10 minutes yet it did not progress. I opened task manager it said it was not responding so i decided to end the task (w/o knwing the consequences). Right after that the progress bar started moving but then the task ended. I then tried to re path and it said i needed the 1.21 so i tried that one but it gave me an error message. So i tried with every other patch which i stored in a folder but i got nothing.

I uninstalled bf2 and now i cant reinstall it becuase it says it cannot launch dxsetup.exe. ive tried to manually install it. also installed direct x but it doesnt solve it.

go to start>run the type dxdiag and hit ok see if direct X config comes up.

it comes up but i cant install bf2.. i jsut got battle gor middle earth 2 and i cant install ir.. is this an issue related to my discs?

no. run virus scan, clear cache and prefetch then defrag.
and if u havent done it reboot first and try again.

wait correction... i can install BFME 2 but i cant install bf2

well see if something is blocking it. try to install in safe mode see if it gives the same error.

a also just try to run the dxsetup from the disc. just browse the cd and look for it see if it will run

hmmm i can run it in the disc but it still doesnt help in the installation by the way i also tried installing it on another computer and it gave me the same problems. i think the patch corrupted my cd

a patch cant corrupt a cd. its read only

i already sent my prbolem to the ea suport 2 times and ive tried all they have told me and yet i still cant install it. it gives me the same error message when i click next in the part where it asks you if you accpet the terms of direct x

same happened to me what u should do u reinstalled after that and then u gotta downlaod every patch from the first 1 made to the last 1
